"If you don't like this specific item then you can make everyone look like utter **** with the default items instead". No, this is a god-awful argument. I already have what I want which is people making their characters look cool with career-relevant equipment. Why would I want to turn that off for everyone just so a few snowflakes can wear the wrong equipment?
youre being weird mate
I'm not the one who wants their Shadow Warrior to be running around in a Sorc dress (from another thread). I also seem to be on the exact same page as the devs as this, as are the silent majority who stay out of these threads.

My thoughts on this are:
1) Mythic **** up
2) Mythic ran out of daemons as at the time there wasn't a tiny Tzeentch daemon.
Since WAR was released, Brimstone Horrors (the smallest and angriest horrors around) now exist, so replacing the out of place Nurgling with a tiny flaming horror would be pretty cool. I wasn't sure if the Brimstone Horrors were AOS only but it appears that they have rules for The Old World so it seems they exist in this setting too.
edit: these angry little boys at the back
I'm on your side with the goofy-looking appearances. I also don't like to see immersion-breaking customization, like seeing people wearing clothing of the other fraction or that one, oh, so funny and totally original pink Black Orc.
Even more, I like to not have lore-breaking armor, which fulfills my desire to play as a Chosen of another god. Like I already said, sadly, there is no other MMO around for it. Also, there are a lot of people who did a great job of customizing their characters in a way to look like from another chaos god. Not immersion-breaking at all.
The question of whether Games Workshop would release a box of Tzeentchs Chosen with a Nurgle helmet is easy. No, they would not. But if Games Workshop would only release Tzeentch miniatures and nothing else, you sure would see people kit bashing and molding stuff till they got the outcome they desired. Like they already do. For example, in WH40K with Slaanesh, because of the lack of miniatures, GM releases.
Also, I would like to mention that mythic did not mess up with giving magus nurglings; they messed up by choosing a particular god in the beginning instead of making the warlord simply chaos undivided like any sane person would in a MMO for the Warhammer world.
