People can run their warbands as they see fit. So long as they're not breaking the TOS. And how would that solve anything? You'd have a group of players roaming around in a group with no lead. And if someone is suggesting things to do, they might as well lead. The reason people don't run purely public WBs is because it's stressful and unrewarding. Imagine trying to wrangle a bunch of players without discord, some without essential add-ons and often half the wb off doing their own thing.. auto band just ensures good composition and kicks people too far away. The problem isn't leaders, there are plenty. It's players not respecting those who lead or have led, leading them to go for heavily regulated public WBs or private WBs.Belanoite wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 6:14 pm My suggestions for new players:
1 - remove the autoband from the game, or make it work only in closed wbs. It's frustrating getting into an open wb and get booted right after.
2 - I don't know how, but would be great if there was public wbs, made for ppl to get in and fight together. No need to someone to make it. A default wb, always open, always up, the ppl can fight together and those who are new in the game, can experience the idea of fighting in large group without being kicked out.
If people actually listened and supported WB leaders, there'd be tons of public WBs.

Just to be curious (I'm not trying to be an a$$) how do you monitor if they were new players, returning players, different account, same account, etc. ?wargrimnir wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 6:23 pm 7,672 accounts have logged into the game in the past week. Do you use any analytic tool or something like that, or just the hits on the auth server ?
Again it's just pure technical curiosity.

It's just a database, pulling the information is pretty trivial with a bit of SQL knowledge. That is essentially what an analytical tool is, being able to make useful statistics out of a large dataset.Orgruk wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 5:43 amJust to be curious (I'm not trying to be an a$$) how do you monitor if they were new players, returning players, different account, same account, etc. ?wargrimnir wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 6:23 pm 7,672 accounts have logged into the game in the past week. Re: For helping the new players
I think Nordland being the t1 24/7 map was the best times for t1. The other maps just suck most of the day with the low population in t1.
A lot of new players most definitely quit during the t1 grind especially if they don't play in peak times.
Id say once they get to t2 they probably can enjoy the game a lot more with the sc grind but I think the 2nd major quitting point for new players is getting 1 shot when they first enter t4. (This happens on daoc servers too).
They have 2 options one is join the pug who and look for solos to gank 24 on 1 and cap bos while running or getting farmed by the premise... the other is to try solo but with the solo game being fairly defensive heavy and defensive talismans and items being so expensive this isn't much of an option either. So that just leaves weeks of boring pvdoor for new players which isn't any real surprise when a lot of them quit.
Also I think nerfing the regen from hv was a terrible idea as new players can get hv dom flesh render gear in like a week of play and be able to beat sov players if they out skill them. Hv now is just useless for soloers and not good for wb players either.

Yet to hear this IS important. RoR veterans have no patent for EVERY question.simongeorges wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 11:56 am Hi. As a quite new player (no character more than 25), I can say that the recent change in T1 influence already makes a huge impact on how faster we can get the rewards.
I recently tried to queue for scenarios while doing public quest, and I agree that it's hard not to be too high level when finishing the sets, but I managed to generate enough war crests to buy the PvP one (by queuing all the time). The main difference I found was that playing with a friend make the public quests a faster experience, allowing to do quests of a higher level, with better rewards, more in line with my level.
Solo would probably have been a really hard grinding time. That said, it's a MMO, so encouraging group playing does not bother me too much.
Anyway, as I said, I don't have a lot of experience in the game, so I may be totally off.

Re: For helping the new players
Playing only tank & healer, I queue very quickly in scenarios (meaning that there still are some people that play the game, both in T1 and T2
).
In T1, my main "frustration" is that people don't know their role yet (for example, in T1, very few tanks use "Guard", even after level 10, and considering the very important role that in play to balance the fights, healer & DPS can sometimes be frustrated being so easily killed because no one was guarding them. I wonder it there should be something to stress the importance of the "guard" spell for beginner tanks (something like a dedicated quest where they need to guard someone in a scenario, or something like that). I watched a lot of Youtube videos on my character, and every video about tanks really insist on guarding, but if you just play the game, you don't really directly understand how that spell may be more important than others.
In T2, as everybody is more comfortable with their spells, the fight are longer, more balanced, and you start learning how efficient your spells really are, or what rotation you are more comfortable with.
All in all, I currently really enjoy the game, both in T1 or T2 (depending on my characters). I occasionally joined a public warband in T2, and had fun. Currently, I find people in the game quite ok (almost always accept to create a group on public quests, never booted me out of a warband, maybe I did not play enough yet for that to happen to me
).
My main issue as a new player is not being able to do the sewer quests in group as soon as I am level 15-16, so I guess I need to join a guild sooner rather than later.

And how do you suppose they will learn if there is no open wbs? And when there is one, the leader is using autoband that boot players. Anyway, you just showed the problem, but didn't give any solution.Scottx125 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 4:15 amPeople can run their warbands as they see fit. So long as they're not breaking the TOS. Leave an open wb and watch ppl organizating themselves.
Re: For helping the new players
By playing? By opening their own WB and learning how to lead? By joining noob friendly guilds that run private WB's all the time? Hell you don't even need to be in a WB to do ORVR, you can join roam/kite groups..Belanoite wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 10:06 pm And how do you suppose they will learn if there is no open wbs? You have no entitlement to dictate how players run their own WB's, public or not. That includes what addons they use.. They put the effort in to run the WB, they decide the rules. If you don't like those rules, find another WB or start your own It's as simple as that.
And I'm not offering a solution because IMO this isn't an issue. You're just upset you keep getting kicked from autoband WB's.
