Re: For helping the new players
Don't think improved regen rings will help anyone but BIS regen soloers.
If you want to help newbies:
1. Turn rested XP into rested Renown.
New players tend to have more alts as they test out who they want to go long with. This also clearly encourages them to pvp to take advantage of their rr bonus and not have it capped.
This will also ensure you are higher RR at CR40.
2. Reduce Vanq/Oppressor price by 50% or drop again from orvr gold bags.
This set for all classes when you can carry your weight in T4 and is generally (at least for healers and snb tanks) much superior to anything from PvE.
But with a 2k price point no veterans will recommend getting it.
3. Improve T4/T5 set bonuses.
Single resist --> All resist
+1 skill --> +2 skill
Etc.

Re: For helping the new players
Very good suggestion, I was always bothered how fast it was to XP through T1, without even having the chance to drop and use T1 sets.BluIzLucky wrote: Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:23 am If you want to help newbies:

Basically, progression is so fast it causes multiple issues :
- Low player pop in T1 lakes at all time, because you basically need 1 or 2 days to get to career rank 16, leaving empty lakes prematurely for other people, and making T1 deserted zones (especially empty on large maps of elves and dwarves).
- Unability to collect/use T1 equipment, wether PvE or PvP, wich are simply too slow to get, while you will always outlevel them by the time you need to earn those sets.
Same thing for influence rewards, wich are already obsolete when you got enough crests/tokens/influence.
- Low timeframe and big hassle to make lair bosses ; you need to get to level 14-15 with friends, and park your characters without playing them if you want to get those blue (and powerful) stuff like Lady weapons.
And by the time you may do the lair, you can do it 2-3 times, provided you got your stuff (only drop 2 random pieces each time), and that the earned XP will probably make you go to level 16, with rested bonus on top...
- No real mean to do both PvE and PvP on same character ; currencies are separated, and you cannot complete both T1 PvE sets and PvP ones, further aggravating the outleveling issue and ultimately locking you into either PvE or PvP activities if you want to complete your set stuff.
(causing other glaring issues like lack or renown if you do too much PvE, and inability to properly enjoy PvE vast world if you want to be RvR-competitive)
Basically XP in T1 needs to be halved or something, and as my fellow poster suggested, switch rested bonus from XP to Renown.
And make basic mounts 40% speed bonus, for god's sake : those shitty 25% speed mounts are clearly a big factor of why people generally hate T1 experience ; maps are too big to be happy on a mount slower than your fleeing speed...
Adding to that the recent debolster for T2+ players wich force you to use this shitty T1 mount is beyond torture, especially when you have to complete world-wide exploration to find clues for various events and quests... :/
TLDR :
To greatly increase new players, and T1 gameplay in general :
- Half XP gains for levels 1-15
- Switch rested bonus from XP to Renown
- Make T1 mounts 40% speed increase
Thank you !

Re: For helping the new players
Hi. As a quite new player (no character more than 25), I can say that the recent change in T1 influence already makes a huge impact on how faster we can get the rewards.
I recently tried to queue for scenarios while doing public quest, and I agree that it's hard not to be too high level when finishing the sets, but I managed to generate enough war crests to buy the PvP one (by queuing all the time). The main difference I found was that playing with a friend make the public quests a faster experience, allowing to do quests of a higher level, with better rewards, more in line with my level.
Solo would probably have been a really hard grinding time. That said, it's a MMO, so encouraging group playing does not bother me too much.
Anyway, as I said, I don't have a lot of experience in the game, so I may be totally off.

Re: For helping the new players
As a completely new player(playing since 2 days), I absolutely agree with all 3 points above:Fenris78 wrote: Sun Apr 02, 2023 10:28 am TLDR :

1) rolled few alts to check gameplay, but too fast lvling to enjoy the sets
2)makes absolute sense, as usually it's harder to get PvP exp than PvE
3)can it be at least 50%? since day 1, 5 mins into the game when I was already riding my mount, my thought was "I hope there is faster mount available soon".
PLEASE make it faster than the escape skill - otherwise it doesn't make sense at all....
Best Regards!
Re: For helping the new players
Just make the 100g mount available from level 1 on and it would solve a majority of complaints from the newbies. Just give it to them in a bag and forget the money dump of an old systemMapoBG wrote: Mon Apr 03, 2023 3:14 pm

Re: For helping the new players
The only way I see a new player going from having a poor experience to a good one is direct tutelage from an experienced player.
Learning mechanics such as
-Proper Build
-Important buffs/debuffs
-The importance of a group and being put in an environment where group mates are correctly synergizing.
It's a game of knowledge and it's a lot to take in for a new player.

Re: For helping the new players
My suggestions for new players:
1 - remove the autoband from the game, or make it work only in closed wbs. It's frustrating getting into an open wb and get booted right after.
2 - I don't know how, but would be great if there was public wbs, made for ppl to get in and fight together. No need to someone to make it. A default wb, always open, always up, the ppl can fight together and those who are new in the game, can experience the idea of fighting in large group without being kicked out.
