Edit:I'll take into consideration your account on denaturing. Dunno if i'd ever make a good tank, at least not yet, in a game i barely understand. If i follow that logic and take tanks out of the equation that could shrink my list by 5, leaving me with 7 classes left. One day though, If i do remove tanks from my list right now, i definitely need to learn how to do all the neat things tanks can do lol.
I think DPS SnB BO is a good place to start in this regard, although I haven't played any other tanks. You still do a lot of damage, so even if you aren't a good tank, you are still somewhat useful.
The very basics of BO SnB DPS play are actually simple:

As DPS SnB BO a typical fight would go something like this:

[Before fight - choose something to guard: a melee dps or another tank, maybe a DoK]

1) If melee train is focusing someone -> AoE taunt//AoE punt if things are getting out of hand and someone needs saving
2) Look for a priority target out of position; if none maintain front//protect your backline and melee dps

3) - I mostly use my armor debuff (Wot Armor?) to start off my rotation.
4) - Use your AoE snare, which is also a Str debuff, as 2nd spell every rotation. (Except when you feel the need for armor buff, i.e., are focused by melee)
5) - If you are not focused, finish your rotation with T'ree Hit Combo. [damage]
6) - If you are focused, finish your combo with Savin' me Hide. [+toughness and 80% magical dmg reduction]
7) - If you need to stay alive rather than do damage -> switch war bellow from Da Biggest to Da Greenest [from stat steal to resistances/armor depending on dmg]; adjust rotation accordingly.
8) - Repeat until something dies/you die. :)

Your most basic tasks are quite simple:
- stay within range of your guarded target;
- save/protect with AoE punt//AoE taunt;
- snare/debuff as many people as possible
- catch some squishies out of position & do some damage! or help maintainig a front and keep melee train at bay

If there is a chance:
-silence/CD increase a healer
-punt someone out of position

If you do at least some of these things, like save someone from leaping WL or manage to snare a whole group that retreating, I'd say you've already achieved something. :)

Aww Just dont Listen what ppl write here. All classes that are dps classes are playable As dps. The only Tanks with burst dmg are bo and snb that have dps Potential. And dok and shammy can play well As dps so nearly all classes

Don't go with a melee dps, currently ranged are stronger, will save you a lot of pain if you don't roll wrong career now.
Sorc/Bw still can easily get top dmg (usually lot of kills too), engi/magus got buffed and are now quite deadly (not to mention engi self heal like a maniac), SW and SH still spread terror from afar.
There are so many awful melee DoKs and WPs who just are walking bags of renown pinatas, it's a field for experienced rdps players.

Tanks... well, a lot of people roll tanks because they want to live longer whilst bashing stuff, so good tanks who actually support their team with guard and optimal CC are far to find.

Roll an engi if you want to be tanky and live long, whilst doing good dps.

Yeah DoK represent!

I loved my R40 Shammy at launch but Mythic just made dok so fun and my own plan is to heal mostly at T4 maybe melee in SCs.

With the recent disabling of experimental mode for DoK/WP, DPSing on those classes is back to being a futile exercise in frustration, sadly.

Meet Trecarivex my (currently) level 9 Magus. I've been doing a decent amount of RVR,already at 159 kills, and quite enjoy the play style. The daemons are really cool too.
