The real question is are you talking about mastery tweaks, ability tweaks, or mechanic tweaks.
Current balance threads have focused so far on single abilities.
When you look at careers like engi, magus, and maybe blackguard can you narrow it down to a single ability? Or are we setting ourselves up to talk about bigger multi faceted changes to not only abilities, but mastery paths, and possibly even mechanics.
More than likely for the weaker careers many changers are going to be needed. This is not going to be a quick walk on the beach. It will be a grueling mountain climb of a task. It is important to keep that in mind.
It might be better to look at specific abilities first.

Overarching changes to game mechanics like cleanse, gaurd, AoE healing, crit, morales, archetype tactics, etc... need to be looked at first before any major changes to any class happen. Classes like AM/Shaman are a perfect example of this.
Also ayy lmao at people thinking magus needs a buff more than engineer. Engineer is worse in every conceivable way bar keg and disorient tactic.

I would like to see the sorc and the bw. Why? Because their passive always has been reking warbands since 2008.

Shammy need some love, the difference between them and their mirror is probably the biggest one in the game. In every aspect, heal or dps.
Then magus/engi, Bg...
I'd give more group utility to SM, BO have high dmg as well but they can offer more to their party.
And Choppas, not because they are weak (In fact is a good class), but I think people would prefer a Choppa buff rather than a Slayer nerf (ID, rampage...)

There are a lot more engineers running around than magi. They are much more visible, and in RvR where people don't often have solid healing in pug warbands, they are very effective with keg, and aoe dots.Jaycub wrote:Overarching changes to game mechanics like cleanse, gaurd, AoE healing, crit, morales, archetype tactics, etc... need to be looked at first before any major changes to any class happen. There is also morale 2, unshakable focus which means people will see big crits now and then. So engi is a bit more visible.
It is actually really hard for some people to understand that getting big numbers in a scenario, or having a lot of killing blows in RvR is meaningless. Anyone can do it versus unhealed enemies / pug groups.

Choppas is a really low priority to fix class. They are extremly viable in both warbands and and 6man groups.

Re: Which class would you like to see in the Balance Forum?
Easy poll.
Magus, as its spell based we compare it to the sorc!
- less range than sorc (on most abilities)
- A LOT less dmg/burst than sorc (top sc fluff damage has no impact compared to mobile burst damage)
- wouldn't be taken in a grp in place of sorc unless is the "token" pullbot in warband
- Far too static to make its only rotation relevant
- "kite" dps is a joke
- they look awful
- the morale 2 compared to engi is a joke
- the pet damage to me at least seems terrible compared to engi turret.
- its the one class that you just don't die to when you're grouped, its that bad, has no threat of damage/burst, you don't get punished by it if your guard is punted away or your positioning is slack, even if you argue its a utility/support class I'd rather take an extra tank/healer for that roll or the extra dps a sorc would bring, it doesn't fit anywhere in a comp other than its only gimmick the pull
Could probably go on but the class needs a lot of attention above anything else, engi a close second

if choppa slayer have a 50% damage inrease bonus then a ranged class suppose to be able to reach even bigger numbers.
The problem it's the trade off sorc/bw have, it always was, not the damages x se.
Also hold the line it alredy a counter only or that and sw/squig aoe spam on the move.

Re: Which class would you like to see in the Balance Forum?
It's all subjective: some classes require a few abilities being toned down/up; some classes requiree a mastery tree reworking; and others require an overhaul in regards to their class mechanic and establishing a purpose for them.Karast wrote:The real question is are you talking about mastery tweaks, ability tweaks, or mechanic tweaks.

Weaker careers will require a lot more work, indeed, and the best approach is as it has been thus far: looking at 1 or 2 abilities at a time.

I also had to vote for Magus to be looked at. All their builds seem so interesting and unique, but feel lackluster when your playing it. I don't even know where to begin with their balancing. They just need more damage or more survivability. Mine feels like a glass cannon, with no cannon, but hes fun to play. So I got that going for me, which is nice.
