The great thing about this server is, we can try to implement an ORvR system that actually works, makes sense, and is fun to play.

Best gear ingame for afk farming npcs that don't even attack you. Great times.
I dont think you played that version if you think the later ones were better, there was nothing good about the first version of the city siege.

You either had the gear or you did not, great times indeed.

You needed a lot of coordination to win the first step and lock the city.
And only conqerer/sentinel for that one.

Warlord and king instances also demanded effort and for the gear, invader/darkpromise was relativly easy obtainable so you could go for the warlord instances.
With enough people having warlord you were ready for king instances.

It kinda had the feeling of an endgame. And not getting everything gifted in empty instances.

I remember lots of people would just go looking for empty instances, either directly or after wiping one time, the new system was crap.

The new city were good pre r81+ patch.
Moast people were rr80 (I think i was rr78) in full Sov so there were no real urge to find empty instances for the gear. It was about getting good guild vs guild warband fight.
Then the rr81+ patch came around and it all became about the grind to rr90 and r100 and the new gear. And the easiet way to obtain the gear was by crashing your client until you found an instance with no opposition.

old city stage 1 were pretty good. It was hard and you needed the whole realm to coordinate. Even if that ment 5 oclock push it was much better than the freefarm that we had at the end.
Imo we should keep old stage 1 and the new pvp driven king fght

In the oldold system you needed to be social and get a coordinated grp/wb.
In the newer system you could be absolutely random, put 0 effort into anything and just be there to collect your wf,df, souv gear, or open the letter you got 24h later.

This is why I think RoR will go for the newer system. Being coordinated or grped is a niche. :)

I was in a fair amount of empty instances in the old system aswell were I just sat on the Monolith so it wouldn't be untagged.
I'd rather destroy cannons and NPC that don't fight back without enemies then just sitting on a BO for 1 hour without enemies tbh.

Both systems were flawed in the sence that the enemie could just chose not to show up. And the newer version was also flawed in that you gained to much if the enemies didn't show up. So you tried to force it.

Thats why i think a PVP system that rewards the winners and punish the realm that don't fight back is probobly for the best for these types of games.
