Re: Do not reintroduce LoTD/Sov and higher armors/sc 65+weap
Well, one of the biggest problms was that the armor got really easy to acquire the last couple years of the game. SoV was HARD to get in the original release, for that matter so was Warlord. You have to remember the forts and the city PQ's were the only way to get it and you had to have the correct wards from the lower sets to even compete for it. You want to keep it balanced, then push the requirements back to release. Make forts actually mean something and wards important. Cap renown at 80 like it was originally and then introduce something new down the line. The biggest issue War ever had was balance between classes, not gear. If you get the class balance right the gear will fall in line.

Obliterator = Keeper's (The Saccelum/Altdorf Sewers)
Devastator = Redeye (Mount Gunbad)
Annihilator = Bloodlord (Bastion Stair)
Conqueror = Sentinel (Bilerot Burrow/Bloodwrought Enclave/Sigmar's Crypt/Warpblade Tunnels)
Invader = Darkpromise (Lost Vale)
Warlord = Tyrant (Tomb of the Vulture Lord)
Sovereign is the RvR end-game set, which dropped from City attack/defense sieges.

You said Sovereign equals Tyrant. It'd be nice if you were a little more consistent with your ramblings.

this is a common misunderstood too, but tyran is not either = in term of itiem level of warlord, tyran is in between the two sets, if you look armor value from piece of equip you can pretty much see it.Obliterator = Keeper's (The Saccelum/Altdorf Sewers)
Devastator = Redeye (Mount Gunbad)
Annihilator = Bloodlord (Bastion Stair)

Tyran was so good that they need to boost sovereign in bonus stat a bit when they relased it
Most of tank indeed used to full tyran gear itelf cos it was just like same as sovereign in a max rr80 enviroment.

Re: Do not reintroduce LoTD/Sov and higher armors/sc 65+weap
There are so many vaild points here that have been made and one thing is for sure, is that we are all very passionate about how RoR will come about and this is indeed a good thing.
But ... and as the point has already been made, we are still a long way from all this.
I personally played this game for all the features. I did RVR (when the mood struck me) and PVE. I did the quests for the storylines, because I enjoyed the work that went into them (Had completed the Chaos and Dark Elf threads, but regret not having the time to start the Greenskin thread, in the offical WAR). I did it all to however my mood wanted to do them.
I will say only that I hope the stats will change and mostly for the PVE gear. I did love my wardrobe and thought the look of the later gear (DF/WF) for the Witch Elf was mostly s***! I loved the PVE armor's better and had half of a bank page full with different pieces for their looks.
Though I certainly agree that, where RR80 was the way to go, I'm seeing that the RR100 rank and gear will be important, despite my wishes for better PVE stuff. My arguement is mostly from that, before patch 1.4.6. WAR had a huge population that had RVR/PVE geared to work for only large numbers to take them. On a Private Sever, I see that as a problem and will need high gear just to cope. I don't care if people think this game will have the numbers to play, because I seriously doubt that it will and certainly not 24hrs of around the clock zone fighting.
I liked that once I was high enough in RR, as a witch, I could solo better and do things in PVE solo too that otherwise previously needed the numbers to do.
I don't think we will have great numbers to play with/against at certain times in the week and for those playing to rank up, would have to either work three times harder or simply have to wait till there is enough for action to take place .... if we stay on the old ways of what WAR was.
Trust me, I did prefer it before patch 1.4.6. But I don't think it will work well for a community in the long run.
Believe me, I agree with the arguements so far ... mostly.
Like you all, I only hope to see great things with this.
With that said, I don't agree with taking things out all together. It's just a question of better management and balance, to which I think alot will agree with.
Anyhoo ... lets see what happens regardless first.
Play on!

Re: Do not reintroduce LoTD/Sov and higher armors/sc 65+weap
I know it's not a complete mirror, as I've seen that a mix of Sov/Tyrants sometimes worked better on my WH for burst DPS. Still, it's closer related to Warlord than Sovereign, simply because the City Siege was practically the T5 endgame gear. The Isle of the Dead was supposed to be the T5 PvE grounds at some point, I believe, but when they dropped PvE support in 2010, it became irrelevant.Tesq wrote:this is a common misunderstood too, but tyran is not either = in term of itiem level of warlord, tyran is in between the two sets, if you look armor value from piece of equip you can pretty much see it.Obliterator = Keeper's (The Saccelum/Altdorf Sewers)

Nene has very valid points. We will not have the number of players that we were used to having around. The community will be smaller. It will make it harder to level up. And as I said, there really is no reason to be taking out armor and weapon sets.

Re: Do not reintroduce LoTD/Sov and higher armors/sc 65+weap
And people don't believe me when I say how superb writing WAR had. They usually saysomething to the power of "It's a PvP game noob!". To which I think "hehe you don't know what you missed! ". Plus it's a RvR(not PvP!) game and as everyone here surely knows, there's more to RvR than PvP(although to Grunts, RvR is PvP. To us leaders... NOT EVEN NEARLY! ). Or should be anyhow :-s .
There is every reason to take out DF and WF. Besides them, nope there isn't.
Good points nene!
