What if you disconnect/get thrown of the server? Are we going to keep track of every player depending or not they log another realm, or by individual players? In most cases of disconnect, you'll have to re-open the launcher, even when you connect to the same realm you were on before, would you get penalised? What about people who use another account for playing on the other realm? Are we going to track their realm switching based on IP? Would we make this penalty/eventual buff show obviously or is it a hidden bonus? Would it actually incentivise people to fight a warband twice their side; mostly not able to get kills but only a small extra reward for killing them? Would it stack with AAO?Penril wrote:This is the only way x-realming can be fought, imho.vove wrote:This is great idea. Rewarding for playing longer on one side is much more encouraging than penalizing for swapping sides.bwdaWAR wrote:This topic has been discussed many times before. The only interesting anti-xrealm measure I remember was when someone suggested to reward sticking to a realm rather than trying to prevent people from switching (which won't work). There are many ways to do this, for example an AAO-like mechanism that gives better kill/support/capture rewards the more time you spend playing the same character or the same side of the same tier at least.
I made two suggestions regarding this, here is the first one:

I cant find the second one, but it went something like this: For the first 20 minutes you spend on a character, you have a -25% penalty to renown/xp/inf. After 20 minutes it goes to 0, after another 20 minutes it goes to + 15%, and so and so, until you get like a +100% bonus after idk, 2-3 hours in the same realm.
The penalty on the first 20 minutes is so people don't switch to the other side just for zone flips.
I have so many questions.
