It could be corrupt/incomplete game files. Try re-extracting the game again (possibly have to download it again). See if it still gives the error.

I have this same error as well. I did not have anything to extract/unpac again, (no winrar). I downloaded the torrent of the client.

I deleted the client and lancher from my first try. I have now downloaded the torrent and launcher a second time and the same issue abides. I guess I will find a rar version rather than the torrent? I thought the torrent was the way to go. Any thoughts?

Update: Not enough space on HD for .rar unpack, as I am just running windos xp on partition of 25G, so back to the torrent. I feel the RoR launcher is at fault, not the War client, as using war.exe and warpatch.exe will actually initialize the program.

Any input would be appreciated...

Hm if you are using XP make sure you have the latest .NET framework installed. Afaik the launcher requires one of the newer versions (which might not come with XP by default).

Also from a quick google that error message seems to be connected with the .NET framework. Give it a try.
