Should or can they stay in the game?
The ability to change your appearance to or apply appearance to non bound items seems to be totally beneficial. However certain bugs like being able to swap 2h appearance out for 1h or buged items like shields that look at swords could be argued against as breaking gameplay.
For instance the BG running 2 1h swords to look like a dok, WH using 2h sword to appear as knights, knights using 2h sword when they are really s/b, BO with 2 choppas, etc... These things might influence you to make decisions you would otherwise not.
Similar issue with the mounts problem, but that was totally lore breaking... no reason for dark elves to be riding around on wolves.
I personally don't think the game is so competitive that things need to be fine tuned at that level, but I was wondering what other people thought about these type of bugs.

"knights using 2h sword when they are really s/b" How do they even pull that off making a 2handed sword look like 2 items that is not possible I got see a SS in the character window of it to believe it...

Re: Alternate Appearance Bugs
No the reason that the mounts were fixed were because once again, the same reason that EVERYTHING else in thsi game is broken
Magus
if those dang magus's wernt having broken mounts then they would never need to fix them
Also screw lore i want to be a 1 ton orc in full armor riding a T rex

Re: Alternate Appearance Bugs
I would think it would be a 2h sword that has a 1h requirement, and when applied as an appearance, it cancels out the appearance of the shield?

Re: Alternate Appearance Bugs
setting an item to appear as book of binding or something like a potion makes it have no model

Re: Alternate Appearance Bugs
Imo breaking the lore intentionally might be actually a good way to beg for a C&D letter from GW.
Re: Alternate Appearance Bugs
Nothing I have seen so far is lorebreaking
The only real problems i see is lack of animations in certain cases like 2h WH

Re: Alternate Appearance Bugs
As we progress through the age of reckoning many of us become heroes in our own right, developing stories as to why or how we have aquired the magical items we have, it is because of this, I don't see any problem with taking liberties customizing your appearence as I would customize my miniatures (remember converting is a huge part of the hobby).Luth wrote:Imo breaking the lore intentionally might be actually a good way to beg for a C&D letter from GW.
A greatweapon counts as a hand weapon as soon as you give it a magical bonus, so a witch hunter running around with a greatweapon seems less silly. The fact that Sword Masters and Black guard use shields bothers me way more then a hero character such as a WH running around with a great weapon.

Re: Alternate Appearance Bugs
There are some cases where "nonstandard appearances" can be good for flavor, and others where they can present more of a problem. It's a fine line, and there's no standard for it - we can't just mix certain classes. A Swordmaster might enjoy using a Shadow Warrior's shoulders for example, getting the bandana mask, or a White Lion's breastplate, but giving them the appearance of a 2H axe is problematic, as is giving them access to the White Lion shoulders, or Archmage robes, etc.
There are some appearances that will be fixed as they are discovered, and some that are allowed to remain. In the far, distant future I would like to have a system for acquiring appearance-only gear, some shareable between classes, specifically selected to not be overly confusing or lore-breaking. Maybe purchasable for tokens in T4 or something, we'll see.
