Did any tank tried init spec?

Wondering if any tank tried slotting init- since at low stat ranks which we get atime even 50 init can lower the chance to be crit by -10% or so, which should make a pretty noticeable difference vs bws.

RR abilities on live made it useless outside of PvE.

Will be interesting to see how things go on this server if TB doesn't make it in, ini might become as important as toughness/wounds.

Yeah initiative is a good defensive stat. On live you could go below zero chance to be crit. I don't play tanks often but I would suggest block% if you are looking at renown abilities. Your main concern should be defending off block damage. Unless your one of those bad tanks that tries to harass enemy healers why your team is getting melee trained. In which case, just go dps. Would I take init tallies over toughness tallies? To be around 5% chance to be crit I would. But if you plan on doing RvR against large numbers go toughness all the way.
Word of Pain and Boiling Blood are no longer able to proc anything. The Bright Wizard College has confirmed this is a big deal. (stealth nerf)

There was talk in another thread about adding a -% crit damage taken component to it. Which would transform the stat from the ugly step child of defensive stats to a serious contender.

Obviously within reason, and if TB is not going to be on this server.

initiative was useless for pvp/rvr on live as it is here. BWs high crit makes it pointless to stack unless your doing pve lairs which will not be working for a long time. Its better to stack toughness since it reduces overall damage. If your a BG, you can easily walk around like a boss with your toughness in the orange.

30 init gives 3-4% lower chance to be crit, your numbers are wrong. Let's say you stack init and reduce it to 0%. People will still crit you, you have no toughness or armor stacked and when they hit you, they hit for the highest possible damage.
Dying is no option.

initiative stop being usefull after the new renow system take the place of old one, cos---> hardly concession and TB cover all damages.

With no TB but also no doom/warp, with renow you will just have to take hardly concession + stack defense to be a wall.

Carry a shield, Improve block through Renown Spec/Gear/Abilities. Higher % of Block will negate any stacking of Init you could muster. Block is 0% damage to you. The more that happens, the less that lowering crit damage matters.

Equipped +30 init cloak (instead of +30 toughness) on my dok atime, init went from 95 to 125, and chance to be crit from 25.8% to 19.6%- a decrease of 6.2%, which is pretty noticeable.

Adding 14 init belt knocked of only 2% more, so not worth loosing 21 toughness for.

All in all, would say it is worth throwing some init in where you can.
