Oil animation for ground

Oi,
I'd like to ask if we could get some sort of animation when oil ist hitting the ground. Since its range differs from keep to keep and we have plenty of newcomers on this server, gettin' known to all aspects of a siege (especially those that kill you in a few seconds) via visuals would improve players experience and anticipation for incoming hot baths. Thanks in advance,

Blorke

I don't remember there ever being a visual for oil, but I agree, it would be nice.

I'm actually surprised there isn't one, as I was very confused as a new player that I'd be taking tons of damage from seemingly nowhere, only to realize I had strayed too close to the keep gates.

What about using the SHM/AM puddle animation and coloring it black? It’s better than nothing.

There is an animation for oil that was active on this server until it one day vanished, not sure why. You can see it in action in this video from 8 years ago (it is visible at multiple points throughout the video, for example right at the beginning it can be seen hitting the ram - for good shots of it you can watch from 0:15 or 5:59). It's the green-brown sludge that comes down right in front of the keep door (and to preempt this potential follow-up question: no, it is not a shaman puddle - the color is different for one but more importantly this oil animation comes with an initial extra part that shows it dripping down from above).

Hello again,

I knew for a fact that there was a puddle back on live servers, but wasn't sure about having it on this server here. I have some distant memories about it 10 yrs ago with ROR, but could have been because I mixed some stuff with live and privat server, getting old sucks. Thanks to Albais for pointing it out and linking the video. If we had that puddle 8-10 yrs ago, then there must still be some files that could be enabled again.
