Contribution / protection

Hello everyone

I would like to know how the contribution system works and in particular the protection.
I have a shaman heal lvl 38 and I quite often see shamans lower lvl than me with protection stats extremely higher than mine.
Maybe I missed something ?

I don't know how it is calculated for contribution, but healers get protection credit on the scoreboard (as do mdps) for detaunting i.e. self protection along with things like shielding others. I think you might also get it for cleaning damage but not sure of that one.

Vusean 8x Chosen
Culwych 8x Magus
... and a host of others ...

Likely this exactly. :)

They're probably using detaunt often or even the shaman tactic which triggers it. Give these a try and see how your numbers begin to compare! (That said, if you're always in a good position / kiting your enemy and not getting dogpiled by them, you may have less protection -- but that's not a bad thing.)

The other one thing healers do for protection not covered by Aethilmar or Ruby is shielding they could be using their shield on cd which adds up over an sc.
