[BW] When I hit 40, what gear set should I buy?

Title basically sums it up. I will have ruin set when I hit 34-36 and carry that till 40, but what at 40? What should I spend my marks on or should I just pve? If so, will ruin work for pve at 40? I’m so lost, any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can buy conq and vanq boots/gloves off ah, so need only to add belt which is the cheapest part for 3 set. The rest is pve in some variation, though whoever actively plays bw probably can tell you more what to mix it with.

You need to do pve though anyway for your bis staff (bastion stairs one), so might as well grab the armor.

Ok perfect, so just start unlocking the wards without spending too crests?

Most ward tiers can be covered by PvE sets, saving you thousands of crests in the long run. Even if the set itself is not really good for your class, it's still worth getting just to throw it on quick and progress your wards.
