Why do people still just roam in the zone when there is a siege?
When a friend of mine showed me this game, he showed me a trailer on the front page of Epic Sieges. Yet it seems like if it's not a 100% win, would people rather just roam around the zone and give up the keep? I'm not understand why?

RoR is mainly about numbers. If you're outnumbered, it's a waste of time to fight, you'll just get farmed.

People desperately want the PvP 1vx or 3vx experience and take it where they can get it

Because who cares about what is likely at best 1 k renown from killing the lord. Not worth the hassle.

If your goal is to garner kills and renown then not defending a keep you won't be able to successfully defend is the appropriate play. Get out and hunt down those of the opposition attempting to maintain control of the Objectives or simply trying to get to the keep. Larger pay-off and much more fun.

A huge problem is getting into the keep itself, unless you're WH or WE. You can spend half an hour getting killed over and over on the way to the keep, only to get instantly rolled by a zerg once you somehow manage to sneak inside.
Unconditional res in the keep if you die nearby should be brought back. I can't fathom why was that mechanic removed, as it was making sieges much more dynamic, with people jumping down and fighting over walls instead of afking on the walls running back to inner as soon as the outer goes down.

This, reward for even defending a keep is too low and greatly outpaced by just roaming. Odds are if you're going to lose you have AAO making those roam kills even juicier.
I feel like defending quit being a thing when they changed how cities work. No point in priding keeps anymore.

They should bring back where you die you respawn at the keep like that people gonna actualy try to defend.

I think this is a fantastic idea. this would disrupt a lot of my farming patterns as a solo/low scale player and make me more likely to interact with the keep

People would happily defend keeps if it was, on average, a successful activity for them. You need enough tanks; enough healers; coordination; etc. Just yesterday I saw an 18 man and a 12 man ganking small groups together outside of their keep instead of defending it, which I found quite surprising.
Defending is typically a huge advantage and if you die doing so, you can just respawn and try something else.
