I see a lot of complaining about this issue but not a lot of people suggesting solutions. Like, blobs are bad for the game because a zerg beats a warband, a warband beats a party, a party beats a duo, and a duo beats a solo. So the only thing you can and should do is blob up and deathball across the lake because there's little point not to, if you can.
What do we think of the following idea: When a warband is sighted by another warband, it's temporarily visible on the map for all players in the zone for like 30 seconds. Time doesn't really matter, insert whatever duration you like. Every player in the enemy warband shows up as red dots moving across the map like in SCs. That way smaller teams can know exactly where they are, where they're going and get out of the way, it incentivizes smaller groups because you actually have counterplay to being facerolled by a blob, and there's a clear advantage to small parties because they can sneak around on the map and never be marked even when sighted. So if you need to cap a BO you send a party so the entire server doesn't see you stomping towards it. This has an extra dose of, dare I say it, realism as well. Where the movements of large armies are more or less impossible to hide, but guerrillas or detachments can move about to accomplish specific goals much more on the sly.

Re: Change to address the blob meta
The real problem is that ppl dont have purpose to roam the map and beside kill trading there is almost nothing to do at zones.
To fix that add more meaning to BOs so ppl spread out more to control the map and more small scale engages occure.
To do that imo keep importance should go down and bos importance go up. I personally like the way the bos where at the start of war with locktimer but here that timer should be linked with aao. As higher the aao longer the lock timer. So suicidal bo take will got some worth if it stop keep attack and it is just fun

Re: Change to address the blob meta
Probably impossibe to code or find the assets for, but I'd love for BO's to have a higher yield for capture, but would be able to be "upgraded" through the star tier, similiar to keeps/forts.
A 1* BO would be as it is now.
A 2* BO would have a rudimentary pallisade for defenders to occupy/funnel forces.
A 3* BO would have some slightly more significant defences in place (no door).
In terms of how this effects the gameplay— look, I'll admit it has the chance to completely backfire with blobs being able to bolt down battle objectives and flip maps more expediently.
However, the ultimate goal is to make the desire for a large warband or pair of warbands to actually set defenders at the battle objectives, resulting in fewer massed players roaming the lake.
They would still need to obtain resources and thus will need logistics parties to 'sally forth' as it were, allowing roamers to assault these parties and the added defences of the BO would be a blessing and a curse, as whilst it's easier to defend against a larger group, a smaller group can manipulate the defences as concealment and cover.

Re: Change to address the blob meta
I'll keep saying it every time this thread goes up: BOs held by keep defenders should decrease door/lord by 20% per BO. Now small skirmishes will hold actual value during sieges instead of just letting a few measly defenders fly into the keep before inner doors go down.

Re: Change to address the blob meta
It's quite eas,y just open up more zones so the players can spread out on several maps. Zerging would mean you take 1 zone while others are taken by the enemy, this would discourage zerging.
But zerging seems to be the vision the devs have for the game so whatever.

Re: Change to address the blob meta
We already have all 3 tier 4 pairings open at the same time and still the warbands tend to congregate in the same zone.billyk wrote: Tue Oct 22, 2024 5:14 am It's quite eas,y just open up more zones so the players can spread out on several maps. The main problems have been touched on already 1) maps need to give more incentive to spread out and 2) the campaign needs to be meaningful enough that people will actually play the objectives, not just farm kills. Right now capping a zone awards less renown than getting a dozen kills, and a lot of geared players don't really care about renown anyway.
Re: Change to address the blob meta
Zones are too small or Blob moves too fast. As long as a blob does not need to split up he will not.
I would really like tosee the WHOLE map open to RvR and BO's all around.

Re: Change to address the blob meta
Any solution to reduce running in one blob will be good.
I'm afraid it won't reduce the problem much anyway and people will always blob.
I would point in a different direction.
I would go more in the direction of how to make it easier for a smaller group to fight zerg/warband.
What we need in order to not get killed by large groups the introduction of Resolute Defense as a skill again and the re-adding as tanks 7 def sove bonus Resolute defense and as tanks 7 off sove bonus “Charge”.
Of course everyone has access to this, but these abilities definitely help smaller groups more to avoid instant death from the zerg than it will help the zerg destroy smaller groups.
