30 useful addons guide for new players and veterans [July 2024]

I wanted to share some addons for new players and old players that could be useful that you might not know about.
For new players, how to install addons?. Download 7zip, unzip your addon to a folder and then drag that to your installation folder, i.e:

Code: Select all

C:\ReturnofReckoning\Interface\AddOns
1. VinylUI
Image
Great addon that improves layout and come with the bottom bar as shown in picture.
https://mega.nz/file/Img3za6T#v84Bqu8hq ... pJatALJeZs
Credit: Caffeine

The following steps are very important to make this work correctly:
Caffeine wrote: Tue Sep 22, 2015 8:03 pmNice and simple.
  1. Navigate to your game installation folder. Usually it's something like:

    Code: Select all

C:\Program Files (x86)\Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning
  2. Backup your Interface and user folders. Use these to restore your settings and addon setup if something goes wrong or you don't like the UI.
  3. In your game folder delete Interface, user and cache folders.
  4. Extract VinyUI518.zip in to the game folder.
  5. [ IMPORTANT ] Navigate to:

    Code: Select all

Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning/user/settings/Martyrs Square
Here you will see presets for different factions and classes. Pick a layout you want, copy the folder and then rename it to what your respective character is called.
For example, if my zealot is called Vermont I make a copy of - destruction_HEALER_character_name and rename it to Vermont.
Note that character names always start with a capital letter.
  6. Once you log on to a character for the first time after installing the UI pack you might have to run a /reload command for all settings to load properly.
One thing I noticed is that some of the already included addons with VinylUI are outdated with problems and need to be repaced with newer ones:
Delete addons (Enemy, Shinies, Buffhead, Swiftassist, WSCT, TidyRoll, Amethyst, tether) in both

Code: Select all

C:\ReturnofReckoning\Interface\AddOns

Code: Select all

C:\ReturnofReckoning\/user/settings/Martyrs Square
TidyRoll is obsolete, already integrated in default UI (Open Parties > AutoRoll) by ROR team and Amethyst has already been proven to cause performance issues, I recommend replacing it with the Obsidian addon which is a better castbar addon that I cover later in this guide. Tether is old and is better replaced by Guardpack, which I cover later.
Then download these following addons:
A. Enemy
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/enemy/
Credit: Idrinth Thalui
B. Shinies
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/shinies/
Credit: Idrinth Thalui
C. Buffhead
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/buffhead/
Credit: Idrinth Thalui
D. Swiftassist
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/swiftassist/
Credit: Idrinth Thalui
E. WSCT
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/wsct/
Credit: Idrinth Thalui

and put them in:

Code: Select all

C:\ReturnofReckoning\Interface\AddOns
After installing it, change these performance settings for maximum quality:
Image
Image

In "Customize Peformance", change resolutions for windowed and fullscreen to your monitor.
If your on Windows 11, right click Desktop and click on "Display settings" to find out yours.

Also, enable overhead names in Targeting:
Image

Some info regarding SwiftAssist addon:
2X macros for this addon will be created for you automatically. SetSwiftAssist and SwiftAssist, drag these on an action bar and put hotkey them (for example, SetSwiftAssist to Ctrl+A and SwiftAssist to Shift+A), use SetSwiftAssist to mark the friendly target (called the "Assist")that you want to know what enemy that they are targeting and then use SwiftAssist to automatically load the Assist's target on the screen.
Also use /swift set wb, or /swiftset sc, or /swift set wb, to announce in chat channel who you are assisting if you want.

Some extra info regarding Pure addon:
It will not show your own unit frame by default, to restore it, do a /pure
Go to "Player" and set both "Unit Frame Alpha" and "Unit Frame Font Alpha" to max.
Image

To change your UI, hit [ESC] and click "User Settings" then do this:
Image

I recommend changing rvmods to remove effigy for friendly and enemy targets, and enabling "Lines" for both friendly and enemy targets.
Image
Do a /rvmod
To enable crosshairs when selecting an enemy or friendly target.
Image
Go to "Targets / Frames"
Edit both and go to "Frame" and enable "Lines" to allow crosshairs when targeting an enemy or friendly.

If you dont like the green or red bar appearing above targets, you can remove that (I do) by:
Go to "EfficyConfigGUI"
Delete both.

Also on bottom bar, click on the time and you can change it from default military time to AM/PM.
Image

This includes texturedubttons addon, so I would do a /tb and change these settings if your an Archmage, Shaman, or Black Ork so you can retain the unique Warhammer Online UI effects for action bar abilities:

2. Sildur's ENHANCED War Shaders v6.0
Image
Greatly improves graphics of the game.
I recommend using OpenGL, some people were having issues with dx11/12 and vulkan.
Sildur wrote: Wed Jun 11, 2014 5:23 pm What is Sildur's Enhanced Warhammer?
A collection of different renderers allowing the game to be run in: DX11, DX12, OpenGL and Vulkan mode.
Using reshade to improve the overall visuals without overdoing anything, adding Antialiasing (CMAA2 or MSAA), Ambient Occlusion (MXAO, DX11 and OpenGL only), Color adjustments and Image sharpening.

Screenshots:
https://imgur.com/gallery/VaoZVKI

The following steps are very important to make this work correctly:

Installation:
1. Download Sildur's Enhanced Warhammer V6.0 and unzip it.
2. Now pick the renderer you want to use. DX11 and OpenGL support the depth buffer for effects like ambient occlusion. DX12 and Vulkan support improved antialiasing using MSAA, effects like AO that cause UI issues are not working, disabled.
3. Go into the respective renderer folder and copy it's content to your warhammer folder, next to the launcher and .exe files.
4. Use "Sildurs-Launcher.bat" to launch the RoRLauncher and play the game, that's it! (Vulkan does not use it, see extra steps below)

Extra steps for Vulkan:
1. After copying it's content to you warhammer folder run "ReShade_Setup_5.6.0.exe"
2. Browse and select your WAR or WAR-64.exe file.
3. Click next -> vulkan -> next, modify -> profile should be listed at the bottom, press next again -> skip shaders -> finish.
4. That's it, launch the game like you usually would, reshade should now hook vulkan.

Recommended:
For depth buffer access OpenGL might run better with less glitches.
For performance, 8xMSAA and 16xAnisotropic-filtering Vulkan might run better than DX12 with less glitches.
If using vulkan make sure to update your gpu drivers and vulkan runtimes. "latest runtime/zip -> download latest runtime"

Hotkeys:
"shift+F11" toggles reshade
"shift+F10" toggles MXAO (DX11 and OpenGL only)
Credit: Sildur

Another good idea to help improve performance:
ROR executables are by default limited to VRAM to 2gb, you can improve performance by increasing this to 4gb.
Download this patcher:
https://ntcore.com/4gb-patch/
and put it in

Code: Select all

C:\ReturnofReckoning
Run it and use it on WAR.EXE and WAR-64.exe
Image

Second good idea to help improve performance:
Make a macro to stop combat logging, in heavy fights this can help fps.
Image
Put this text in it and activate it every time you log in (it will reset).
/script CombatLogger.off()
I recommend making a .bat file on your desktop that you can click on after you close WAR, it cleans the cache which can help prevent future crashes.
Image
On Windows 11, open notepad, copy the following and paste it in:
rmdir /s /q cache
del WAR-64.dxvk-cache
del WAR_d3d9.log
save filename like:
EndROR.bat
done.

5. WarRatingBuster

Stat comparison of gear when hovering your mouse over its tooltip.

6. MapMonster + WARCommander + minimapmonster
Image
You need both addons for them to work, I also recommend minimonstermap so you can view it in your minimap.
What this does is it gives a small window which you can use to select an enemy target and clickon the little explosion icon to announce in the local chat channel that you've spotted an enemey, the bigger explosion icon is for a group, and the red RVR icon is for a warband. Coordinates are included. Green skull is to announce you need a rez, etc.

11. MoraleCircle
Image
Replaces default morale bar with a better one, which includes percentages:

12. targetinforing
Image
VERY useful for rdps and healers. Shows you range of distance to your target, useful to gauge whether you can use an ability if your within a particular range radius.

13. Moosiemods
Image
Better custom modded UI for party/warband UI for Enemy addon than original, easily see warband member in compact window and thir health percentages.
Download the ONE you need. If you're a healer, download the one with your class.... otherwise, download the generic one (the first one). The only difference is in the specific-healer ones, I enabled THEIR class, and disabled the other healer classes to improve performance on server-side checking. (Meaning you don't need enemy doing "checks" on conditions that will never be true)

HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Exit Game (you must be out of game)
2. Navigate to ~Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning/user/settings/Martyrs Square/<username>/<profilename>
3. Rename your existing "Enemy" directory to "Enemy.old" (or whatever) - IF you want to save your old enemy settings.
4. Unzip my zip, which will make a NEW "Enemy" folder for you.
5. Launch game, Profit. Win.
6. If the Enemy frames are TOO BIG for you (it's set to 1.2, which is large)... right-click the Enemy anchor in the game, go to "Configuration" then "Unit Frames" and look for "LAYER: BACKGROUND and change SCALE from 1.2 to 0.9 (or whatever). Each 1/10th decimal is a pretty big difference.

WHAT IT DOES:
1. Shows who's guarding who in your group, type of guard, using colors and such. If you're a tank, you can see whom you are guarding specifically.
2. Healers see heal dots and class buffs for all their stuff
3. Leader gets a star on themselves if party lead (6-man) and when in Warbands you can see WB leader
4. Shows a big green "Dot" on a person when they're dead, but a rez has been cast on them by someone.
5. Improved Coloring, Range Indicators, Improved Alignment, Improved Group Icons (which should be the ONLY group icons you use - the other mod actually called "Group Icons" is a lag-monster.
6. It's set to where you're ALWAYS in the top group (it auto re-arranges) AND it sorts by TANKS-DPS-HEALERS in that order.

If your having trouble opening the links, copy the link URL and paste it in a new browser tab to download it.

Also, you can enable effects here, such as Dispellables, etc:
Image

Scroll down to "Visual Parts" and enable HP and Distance. These are very useful if a player is nearby and what everyone's health percentage is in a group or warband.

Also scroll back to the top and enable hide when solo.

Since this addon will reset your Enemy settings, I also advise to turn off Group icons for other groups:

9x Updates 8/16/2024 :

30. Deathblow2

VinylUI includes Deathblow2, which can easily keep track of your kills/deaths for your current session.

Image

Select the Deathblow2 icon "DB".
Click on the dwarf-looking cog by the "v2.0" at the bottom of the Deatblow addon window.
Check everything to get it work properly (Speech Bubble, Alerts[Kills], Alerts[Deaths], and TextLogs).

Image

https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/deathblow2/
Credit: Idrinth Thalui

However, if you disable combat log then Deathblow2 will not work.
Only disable combat logs if your system is crashing or if you're having noticeable fps loss.
Second good idea to help improve performance:
Make a macro to stop combat logging, in heavy fights this can help fps.
Put this text in a macro, drag it to an action bar, and click on it to activate it.
Update: This is a better accurate macro that will completely disable the combat log:
/script TextLogSetEnabled("Combat", false)

However it will reset every time you close the game.
Credit: Fenris78

If you want to not have to keep doing this every time you log in or change zones though (activating a macro to turn off the combat log), then get the "DisableCombatLogv1.0" addon to do it for you automatically.

32. Painttheleader
Large unique marker that will automatically appear above warband leader's head to easily identify them.

Image

https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/painttheleader/
Credit: nyan, Fenris

33. Showmethebubbles
Anytime someone (player, friendly NPC, enemy NPC) says something nearby (even in local region chat), a text bubble will appear over them so you can easily identify what they're saying.
Image
Also, in User Settings > Chat, make sure Player, Party, NPC bubbles are enabled.
Image
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/showmethebubbles/

34. Thanktheresser
Automatically say something in /say to thank the person who rezzed you.
Use /ttr insertexthere
For example:
/ttr Thanks %p
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/thank-the-resser/
Credit: Idrinth Thalui, wargrimnir

35. Res
For healers, this addon will make you automatically say something when you are rezzing a player "Ressurecting x", and it will say something if the rez fails "Ressurection of x failed".
This is very useful for healers to alert other players if a rez went through or not for situational awareness, if other healers have this addon then you can cancel the rez if they are rezzing the same person as you so you can focus your time on doing somethig else instead of 2x or more healers wasting time/action points rezzing the same person.

To setup, click on the little "R" square addon icon to activate it, but make sure to right click on it and change the channel to "Say".
Credit: Idrinth Thalui
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/res/

36. Ges
For tanks, this addon will make you automatically say something when you guard someone, very useful for situational awareness for other players when cross-guarding people nearby that are low-health in your party and to alert the guardee that they just got guarded.
Right click the purple "Ges" triangle addon icon and make sure the channel is set to "Say".
Credit: Idrinth Thalui
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/ges/

37. ResHelp
For healers, this small window that will appear only if there are nearby players that have died and can be rezzed. This includes players not in your group or warband.
Image
Credit: sullemonk
https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/reshelp/

38. HealHoverAssist
For healers, I have confirmed this addon does work. It generates a macro for you like SwiftAssist addon, hotkey it and it will select the last friendly player that you previously targeted that had less than 100% health (However if that friendly player already has 100% health it will just select yourself). This is very useful when clicking on targets far away to identify a friendly player that could use a heal instead of accidentally clicking on a useless enemy target.

1x Update 8/17/2024:

39. ProcessLasso
https://bitsum.com/
Credit: xpander, [deleted], Randomhkkid, S4MUR4IX

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning game is limited to 4 cores. Cores should be limited to help reduce lag spikes and stuttering. This is how to do it:
xpander wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 11:51 am|
restrict cpu cores for the game.. set te affinity to 4 cores with no SMT for example.
xpander wrote: Mon May 24, 2021 12:06 pm|
limit the game to 4 cores only, should help smoothing the spikes a bit.
}
Terminology Used
Cores == Real CPU cores in your system Threads == Real CPU cores + HyperThreaded cores HyperThreading == Intel's technology for doubling threads Game engine == How a game uses your computer hardware

Why do I need this?
Most game engines aren't able to take advantage of all the threads of a CPU

How does it work?
Process Lasso allows you to control how many cores/threads a program is able to use in Windows.

By disabling cores/threads you can see improvements in clockspeeds and thermals. As described in the previous section game engines are limited in the amount of CPU threads they can use so you are not losing anything.

A note on HyperThreading
The reason my first piece of advice is to disable HyperThreading is because a HyperThreaded core is =/= to a real core. In general you can see a +30% (AMD's SMT is more efficient than this) boost per core by enabling it; however, this could reduce clocks by more than 30% (Laptop's especially due to thermal constraints) negating this benefit.

Note that even core id's (core0, core2, etc.) are real cores, odd core id's (core1, core3, etc) are HyperThreaded cores.

4 Cores no HyperThreading = 0;2;4;6
https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveove ... _gameplay/
https://www.reddit.com/r/macgaming/comm ... ess_lasso/
1. Run Processlasso and make sure game is running.

2. Right-click on WAR.exe and set the following:

3. Change CPU Priority > Always > High

Image

4. Change CPU Affinity > Always > Cores 2,4,6,8
Credit to: Kornaker 12/3/2024

5. Change I/O Priority > Always > High

Image

6. Turn off Probalance too to prevent ProcessLasso from throttling with WAR.exe during big fights. Remember to turn off ProcessLasso after exiting the game due to disabling ProBalance option.
Also, don't forget to exclude all the games, photo shop, movie editing etc program to be excluded form Pro Balance, so Process Lasso wouldn't throttle the program when it depends the program is using too much resources.

Hi and thanks for your dedication! This guide is a blast ^^

Just one question, when u wrote for the Moosiemods Enemy mod:
"For Shaman:
http://www.satexas.com/software/Enemy_M ... 2_Sham.zip
For Disciple of Khaine:
http://www.satexas.com/software/Enemy_M ... .2_Dok.zip
For Zealot:
http://www.satexas.com/software/Enemy_M ... .2_Zel.zip
For everyone else:
http://www.satexas.com/software/Enemy_M ... ds_1.2.zip "

Does it mean:
For Shaman = also For Archmage?
For Disciple of Khaine = also For Warrior Priest?
For Zealot = also For Rune Priest?

Thanks.

Hi, thanks.

I'm just sharing it, but original credit goes to Moosie here:
viewtopic.php?t=24648

No those were meant Shaman,DOK,Zealot only.

Dwanex back in 2020 did make one for WP though here:
Dwanex wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2020 10:33 pm Made for HEALING WP!

What does it track?

Healing Hand = Red Dot
Pious Restoration = Purple Dot
Divine Light = Yellow Dot

Dispel = Upper left Dot

Also I changed the overall colouring a little bit.

I'll see if I need (or want) to add more to it. Feel free to ask me for anything if you miss something for your needs.

Install it like its said on page 1.

The main one is still made by Moosie so a big thanks to him!

I'll work on a Grace/Wrath one in the coming weeks to track your buffs on you and your defensive target. Maybe I'll do the other healers too then if someone wants it and likes the look of my version :)

As for AM and RP you would have to make class trackers yourself:

This thread is a compilation of import strings for Enemy that allow you to track hots as well as important tactics for all healing classes. Tactic trackers and trackers for Shrug it Off and Magical Infusion are set up to track effects from all sources (not just your own procs). Note that Enemy draws icons in the same order as they appear on the list, so items on the bottom will always be on top.

To import a tracker go to:

Enemy configuration -> Unit Frames -> scroll down to Effect indicators -> Click Import -> Copy and paste the string
