Just curious, is this server going anywhere? By that I mean is it going to shut down in the foreseeable future? I've played on a few private servers of other games but they eventually died. This servers seems like THE Warhammer Online server and I'm thinking about investing my time into it.

Been playing on and off since 2016. I always come back. Its worth the time you want to sink in.

Dev work is active and ongoing with plans for the future, and there's never a shortage of people to fight or at least argue with.

No reason to think it's going anywhere, tuck in and make yourself comfortable.

Well everything will die at some point… but I don’t see this server dying off to the point where it becomes unplayable for the foreseeable future.

If you ignore the noise of forum whiners and find decent guild there are many enjoyable years ahead of you. Devs are active, server is with long history, game design is unique, still many people come and go, so try out some content. But remember main focus is pvp in a form of aoe fest warband fights in RvR zones or smallscale with balanced groups (tank - dps - heal) for scenarios and small roams. People having hard time finding their role in this, many come from solo oriented games and dont understand that all classes have synergies and better you fulfill your role (as class and archetype) the better results you get.
