A few questions.

I played a little in the age of reckoning beta way back but I never played much. It wasn't until the game was on it's deathbed when I decided to come back and hit lvl 40 with a warriorpriest that's not say I didn't love the game it's just that I was too young to enjoy it at the time.

Now my question is this legit? the one running the private server isn't going to do anything nefarious with my email right or anything?

and are the downloads safe sorry for my skepticism but I've never used a private server before.

It's not 100% legal, but it's legit. Nobody is going to mess around with your e-mail, and the download files are virus-free.

I appreciate the reply I am downloading the direct ones got part 4 downloading now it's gonna take awhile but I didn't really wanna mess with the mega. So do I just highlight them all once it's down and unzip all at once?

Pretty much. Open part 1 and just extract - the rest should follow.
Then, download http://launcher.returnofreckoning.com/RoRLauncher.exe and put it into your WARhammer folder. Un-check the WAR folder from read-only and start the game through the launcher.

If after unchecking read-only you get an error containing

at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterLib.GetStringTable(Boolean isHelp)
at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterLib.get_NameTable()
at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterLib.get_CategoryTable()

No, the archive will already have a Warhammer folder.
