Leaving T1 is a hard good-bye

So I never got any char to a high rr, my highest is 40/48. But I love creating new chars and having fun with different classes.

The thing is, T1 is tons of fun from the very first level until level 15. When I hit level 16 I also hit a wall. Depending on the class, sometimes the wall is a little softer. Anyway, Moving out of T1 comes with a hard drop of fun. Sometimes scenarios are still ok, sometimes not.

I try my best to keep my equipment updated, slot talismans, even buy potions (sometimes). Is there anything else I can do to make my life a little less miserable? I recently started a shadow warrior, had a great time in T1 and now every moment is terrible.

Any ideas, advice?

Bolster can be rather powerful, but you have to treat it like anyone with a top tier character to get the most out of it. Having gear in every available slot, having talismans in every piece of gear, having gear as close to your level as possible, and always having a stat potion active are how you get the most out of it. Even with bolster, it's only intended to bring you up to a certain level of viability. The game is very much designed for the progression of power as you get more abilities, more renown, and better gear.

The other massive part of playing in T2+ is having a group of players. The PVP side of the game is just not solo friendly, it can't be, the game just wouldn't make sense. You need to have a group with at very least a healer and two DPS classes to have an expectation of success, and ideally you'll have a 2-2-2 group with two tanks floating guard between DPS/healers as needed, and effective communication to focus down vulnerable enemies.

1) T2 epic quests from Dwarf/Orc zone and HE/DE zone ( Use wiki)
2) Altdorf sewer/Destro equivalent lvl16 dungeon - huge boost of exp and a set of gear.
3) Use talismans. even green ones of appropriate level are better than no talismans.
4) Try and leech off in RvR to get influence rewards. Some can be very useful.
5) Most importantly find a good guild/group of players to play with. At the end of the day, this game is a group focused pvp game. Avoid guilds that are spamming lfg channel with their invite. Those are usually bad.
The Unlikely Plan
Ramjumper - Knight of the Blazing Sun
Shewhispers - Swordmaster
Punishingknock - Ironbreaker
TUP
Bellowabuser - Chosen
Moralepumper - Black Orc
Mindkiller - Blackguard

You just slip out the back, Jack, Make a new plan, Stan, You don't need to be coy, Roy, Just get yourself free. Hop on the bus, Gus, You don't need to discuss much, Just drop off the key, Lee, And get yourself free.

You can always be in a perpetual state of re-rolling T1 toons ;)

There are multiple ways to enjoy the ''real game'' past T1 but you need to do informed decisions and learn the ropes to really enjoy yourself. The choice of class and playstyle will also somewhat determine how you should approach the game past T1. T1 is solo friendly, past LVL 16 is not for low level characters( unless you're a veteran with the correct class/ game mechanics knowledge). Stick to a group.

As for scenarios T3(+16). Que solo only when not getting farmed by enemy organized premades, it can be a lot of fun but learn when to stop queing to avoid frustration.

Generally, to succeed you'll need an income of Gold, to support the mandatory potions and updated talismans to put into gear, +16 lvl characters should have updated potions and talismans for their level all the way through to lvl 40 to take advantage of bolster boost, Armor, Heal, Stat potions are essential, recommend investing in cultivation/butcher professions(have an alt butcher). If starting fresh or without gold then keep expectations low to avoid disappointment.

Understand that in T4 RVR(+16) there are geared players in full sov/ranked stuff that are sometimes close to omnipotent compared to leveling toons or even Vanq gear tier players (Witch elves/dps shamans or Witch hunters in particular killing lowbies for a snack if you wander alone, this isn't T1). Again keep your expectations at reasonable levels to avoid frustration.

In the end this is a grinding game with end game itemization goals and social interaction/ pvp, hence without personal efforts or discipline there are few to no rewards. If you're willing to learn and take defeats as a postive learning experiences there is only gaining, unfortunately many modern games offers instant gratification but this isn't (thankfully) one of them.

P.S. Get addons and use them, check the addon section for important ones that will aid you in your quest towards greatness( Swift assist, enemy , buffhead etc).

Found some really nice people in T1. They showed me the sewers in Altdorf. After finishing them, I was level 18 and equipped with a level 18 set, some level 18 jewels and a level 18 weapon.
The next scenarios were a blast! I joined solo and had a winning streak, felt really powerful and it was great.
So you were right, the bolster boost is magic. Now Im still with the same gear, but already level 21 and either the effect is smaller or some other factor brought down my success.

anyway, I learned that you can have fun in T2+

For lvl 16-39 I pretty much level with scenarios only. Sometimes you have good run and sometimes bad, depends on players and setups currently queuing for mid tier sc's. Sometimes its not fun if other side has premade grps terrorizing the sc's but if that happens, you can try joining one for youself or try put together one or stop queueing to avoid frustration. At that level it probably doesn't need to be super organized and voicecom'd so just going there with proper setup will work out at least seven times ouf of ten. That being said, if you get into really good and organized grp, thats even better and your leveling will probably be faster and more fun.

Good thing is that nowdays you are less likely to run into high lvl smurf premade (35-39ish) who set up shop in mid tier sc's with reduced xp item and farm lowbie pugs for rest of their days.

If you have people to play with, exploring zones, questing and doing public quests together can be fun pve adventure but I would put sc queues up while doing it. You can solo explore and quest too but for pq's you need more people.

Dinging 40 might be another from womb into a cruel world kind of experience but there pug sc, pve (gunbad -> crypts and tunnels -> bastion stair and hunters vale) and open warbands are probably a good start. Its possible to skip lot of the content but thats the roadmap if you want full warhammer online experience.

bolster is giving strongest buffs when your item level is same as your xp level. so in your example you were actually stronger as lv18 wearing lvl 18 gear, instead of lvl21 wearing lv18 gear, at lvl 22 you will be even weaker. that's why it's a good idea to not just play scenarios, but also join orvr and try to leech influence needed for basic rewards. also epic quests might give you a good item or two. here you can read guides on them https://wiki.returnofreckoning.com/Epic_Quests

Thanks everyone for your replies!

With my now 35/34 Kotbs I'm still weak in OpenRVR, but it feels ok. Sometimes I can even really participate in a kill :)
