Do I want to keep my rank low?

I have seen that you can buy something that lowers your experience by (I think) 75%. I am assuming that is so you don't level too fast during pvp, but is there any point to that, other than 'so you don't overlevel compared to the questing you're doing'?
'Cause I feel like questing really isn't worth it anymore. Though it might be only T1 and T2 questing that are lackluster...?

no, it's purely for pvp, pve there is next to no risk of overlvling if you just play through the chapters

if you're lvling with scs and rvr your renown tends to level out and hit around 40 by the time you enter t4. if you use the xp scrolls you can end up at 50+ renown by the time you go to t4 and can jump straight into vanquisher gear. you can also farm domi emblems in mid tiers scs if your build wants tyrant weps

Alright, I might be a bit stupid, but help me out here.
If I use the xp scroll to level slower, that means my rank will grow slower but my renown at normal pace? You said that I could get to around 50+ renown by the time I'm t4. But can't I just reach t4 normally, and just keep going there until I hit renown 50? Or am I missing something?

that's how it works yes. you're fine to hit t4 at any renown but hitting it at 50 just smooths out the transition a lot more as vanquisher is fairly competitive gear. if you're looking to hit t4 at a low renown then you probably want to look into farming for ruin gear in your mid 30s. it's a very defensive set with no renown requirement that will help you in just staying alive, following your wb and eventually getting your renown up whilst in t4

In the end it's your choice but as a new player I'd rather go slow and try to learn your class and others in an environment with less high rr/gear enemies. When you feel strong in midtier sc, you learned the basics. If you still struggle in midtier sc - what new players usually do, you need more practice.

You can do all this in t4 with lowrr but it might be more frustrating and you will feel less powerful.
