Conflicting info for sieges

I have been seeing a lot of information in chats on sieges and siege engines that is contradictory or hearsay. I am hoping to get some clarification (or a link to where I should look)

My understanding is that the following effects occur for castles at these star rating
1 star: can spawn cannons and artillery pieces
2 stars: can spawn a ram
3 stars: inner postern is sealed to non bypassers
4 stars: outer posterns are sealed to non bypassers, and decays to 3 stars without a guild claiming it
5 stars and 4 battlefield objectives: zone locks
Am I missing anything important?

For cannons, I had though I understood that only a limited number could be spawned per star. While I was playing I counted more than I expected for a 3 star castle (I thought there would be 5, instead it allowed for 9). Is there a cap to the number can be spawned or does it increase with time?
People say not to waste ammunition and that there is a counter for it, what text tab lists how much ammo is available while shooting? Does ammo come from supplies? It seems to automatically recharge even when no supplies are turned in.
While shooting the AoE cannons I have noticed that I can't do as much damage as I have seen coming in while I am attacking (1500 vs 800). Is damage based of a player stats?

Lastly rams. My understanding is that each races ram is identical except for the skin. But I have seen comments that they have different amounts of hit points/speed/damage. Which is correct?

keep ranks - correct info
cannons - there's no chat tab showing ammo count. it's shown on the middle screen text. 15 shots max.
BO flagged as your realm recharge ammo. timer is every 1m. 4 BO = 4 shots recharge at once.
damage info is personal observation, could be wrong.
ST damage is based on str of owner ( or user ). AoE damage has bonus if enemies are blobbed.
rams are all same. comments are roleplaying jokes.

I might also add that 4 star keep lets you spawn 2 rams at once.
