Crest deletion & Server rollbacks

Yesterday, for the second time recently, the server was reverted to a prior to city siege state effectively deleting all crests acquired (through any means) in that timeframe. Unlike the last time, this time, the crash/reset/rollback/pulltheplug "solution", happened when only 15% of city instances remained open. over 3/4 had been resolved entirely.
Some thoughts
1) Blanket removals of all crests, both generated through bug/exploits and those earned fair and square, does not solve the issue. ANY issue. It doesn't even patch it up. It stashes it under the carpet and relocates it from one part of the player population to another. From those that logout knowing they legally participated in a city siege and do not login after, therefore having no idea that the rollback even happened, to those who happen to be online when the "new" city siege is forced. Not only does it move the problem, it generates more issues and discrepancies. People who happen to be online after the rollback, that had previously found themselves losing the (now)reverted city, are presented with two chances at winning more crests, while those who fairly participated and completed the reverted city (win or lose), have no chances even to retain some crests. I am sorry but this is not a game situation. It is a casino.
2)When city sieges were first introduced, gold bags contained sovereign pieces. That was afterwards reverted and the official explanation was that "contribution was" (and I am guessing still is) "broken". All those players that happened to luck out and gain (oftentimes even 2-3 per city) sov pieces, retained them after bags no longer contained armor parts. Why is that I wonder, since they were generated through a broken system? Because devs made the (correct imho) deliberation, that removing the pieces would generate unfound grief because in a sense, the players had earned those items. Earned is the operative word here. In exactly the same sense, people joining, playing out, and reaping fair rewards on a completed city siege that later gets reverted, have earned those rewards. When they log in to see them inexplicably and more importantly, unjustifiably, gone, they are to say the least, frustrated and perplexed.
3)The above respond to, and debunk, the two main casual explanations/convo stoppers that go around. a) That the rollback "is the best that can be possibly done in this situation" and b) "They gave us a new city to make up for it".
People don't remain logged in a server 24/7 to be able to brush off situations like these and still regain what was lost. Not even the most hardcore of us. Even if they could, that would not give them back what they have earned fair and square.
What will achieve that, is either a complete return of the medals they have been deprived of, and/or a thorough checking of the city logs and appropriate compensation given out.
