What's the character limit for in game name changes?

I'd like to change mine but the new one is 11 characters and I read a very old thread mentioning a glitch where ingame changes only allow you to use 10. I hope this has been fixed so I can use the name I actually want.

You cant exceed the limit set but you can add a second name for 5g.
