Support classes and server presence

Hey guys, I played RoR a couple of years ago and enjoyed it quite a bit when only t2 was available. I played quite a few classes to 20s but had a few questions about how classes go in t4 content with current balancing.

I generally like to play support role bard type classes. I typically enjoy play that has multi function large party interaction whether that be through buffs and debuffs or major enemy group disruption. I was curious of what role each of the tanks and healers filled in t4 with current balance or even dps class if there was a more bard like support class. I'm mostly interested in BO, chosen, or any of the destro healers, but im unaware of what each class excels at during max lvl play.

I know chosen are an aura class, but I dont know what BOs do in a party. I've heard shaman are less healer more dps but not really great at either. I'm mostly interested in finding a class that can be utilized in the majority or organized content. WB, SC, 6v6. Solo ability would be cool, but not necessary. Also would like to play a class/role that is highly desirable but maybe underrepresented since I know the population isn't super high. If you could give me an idea of each of my mentioned classes role is would be greatly appreciated.

Also for possible pertinent information, I consider myself a player whom plays classes at a high skill level so I'm not afraid of "high skill ceiling" classes.

Thanks for your time in your response.

Thanks for the quick response. Would you mind elaborating on what their playstyle/role is?

Chosen will be the class for you.
c/c, guard, buffs etc very similar to a bard in many games.
Backbone of every scale of RvR, PvP.

dd zealot, debuffer and c/c less tanky and less wanted. one is enough in every warband. Dont think they are that good in 6v6.

Knight of the Blazing Sun on the order side are pretty good aura class, and highly desired in warbands and scenarios in large numbers.

Black orcs provide more debuffs than buffs, things like stat stealing, and reducing armour, etc.

KotBS or Chosen, full tank with a sword and shield sounds like the class for you if you want to buff allies. Dont worry about strength or damage at all concentrate on defensive stats. Find a slayer (with KotBS) or choppa/marauder (with Chosen), or some other damage dealer or healer.

You wont top charts, but you can save people through guard. Youll be at the front though, not tge backline.

Thanks for the replys. Are AM/Shammys worth putting time into? I've read they are subpar healers and most go dps, but I would assume their dps would be subpar to playing any other ranged.

am/shams are very versitile in small scale and they also have a good dps build to where the class isnt boring. sick of healing one day? go dps. they have great utility like aoe snare ground target, ap steal, aoe punt, heal debuff. to say subpar? ehh they can perform well, sometimes it does feel like you have to do more for the same reward other healers get but i like that play style. a zealot/runie pair well with am/sham.

black orc

you can tank dmg, save allies with guard, have awesome group support with bellows, challenge, great aoe, debuff for sorc aoe, CD reducer, st dps support with skull thumper, keep htl up indefinitely with tactic, reach highest wounds in game to tank morales, biggest body in the game makes you a sightblock for the backlines and now that ygn is fixed you can also heal, um, somewhat

best class. best support. and when you get bored of that the off spec is just as awesome

I recommend shaman.
well placed slow puddle can change tide of battle.
healers are always desired.
shaman requires high skill level to be good.
in that matter, every class can be good with high skill.

AP management, pre-kiting, pre-casting, look for heal priority, dps assist with class mechanic, those are required skills.

for utility : silence, heal debuff, aoe stat debuff, aoe punt, slow puddle. but you can't have it all. check career builder.

shaman have tactic that run faster.
you can be decoy with it. or just run away from hostiles.

only minor is it's goblin.
SM8, SW8, AM8, WL7, KoBS6, BW6, WP8, WH7, IB8, Eng5, RP5, SL6
BG8, Sorc8, DoK8, WE7, Chs8, Mg8, Ze7, Mara8, BO6, SH7, Shm6, Chop4

It depends on what you want to do:

Tank of all type already provide utility in form of guard/challenge
- BO is the worst utility tank but are great at melee assist (they debuff armor)
- Chosen are better because they are great just standing there with their aura, boring to play though (aura bot literally)
- BG is great debuff tank assist as 2h build, it's great 6v6 tank (-wound debuff, get crit debuff on enemy)

Shaman (maybe) what you are looking for, it's decent at dps and heal but not great at either. The pain is you would have to farm TWO sets of gear, heal set and dps set. The one good thing they have is the slow puddle... it ranges from game changing (in a tunnel) to worthless (out in open)

DD zealot is a joke really, it require ppl to play "around" you. ie. you add little to your group that can't be done better by other specialized classes, you "can" switch back and forth with one set of gear though. but you can't change tactic mid combat. What this means is you can farm other ppl when your group is better or more numerous (like dps shaman/AM) but not optimized fighting equal gear/skill group. It's a win more spec
