How often are there leveling events?

Hello. I am completely new to RoR, played a bit on live when it had first came out. Hoping I am posting in the right forum.

I was looking to start playing RoR a couple of weeks ago, and after downloading it I decided to finally register my account today and find out I missed a really big leveling event. It leaves a super bad feeling when you miss something like this by a few days. It's my own fault of course, but how often are there leveling events on RoR? I might as well wait for the next one, but how do I avoid missing it again, and when should I expect it?

Leveling isn't really that bad. Make sure to log off in your capitol city to accumulate rested xp, and when that's exhausted get yourself new gear as close to your level as possible.

I played Lineage 2 between 04-07, that was a grind, i pretty much played everyday for 3 years, i got to level close to 65-69, if you died you could lose a weeks grinding. That was a pain.

But this feels like a pain too, not close to l2, but since doing quests don´t give much, the grinding does get to you, and the one thing you want to do (RvR) give you little to no Exp or money. But hopefully things will be more tweaked later on, i just don´t remember it taking this long on "official", maybe i just blocked it out

Does looting I the city/guild hall really give more cause ibhavent seen difference myself.
