Gear question

Hey there.
So I have a few questions.
I was wondering about the gearing in this game, since it is far from anything I have seen before.
I have noticed that most of my gear as I level will become "outdated" very fast, and only regular merchants sell gear. But that gear is statless. Now, I dont know how it is supposed to work but, I am used to doing quests, get gear from those quests that allow you to get to the next area without too much of a worrie. But it seems different in this game.
So the real question is, what am I doing wrong? How should I go about to have a somewhat updated gear for the next rank/area without losing a whole lot of stats only to gain armor from vendor gear?
I am not trying to complain, I am just not used to this.

Thanks for reading.

I found myself in a similar situation a few days ago on my green (for leveling) specced shammie.
Mobs became quit hard to take out and more than two was lethal.

Answer for me was - public quests - just ask some folk if they want to do some PQ's a few times or visit the auctioneer.
I sell off most gear i cant use on there for some bigger gains then selling to an npc - so when i am just grinding mobs and questing i end up with some nice change -> spend a little to make your life easier :D

And if you do some SC's/orvr in between you can visit renown Merchants in the capital to see if there are upgrades available.

Good luck to you !

First of all, you should take a look into the Wiki's equipment list to understand how the gear differs: https://wiki.returnofreckoning.com/inde ... R_%26_PvE)

There is XP (from leveling), INF (from PQs) and RR (from PvP) you can level up, in different ways and some of the sets require a certain XP/RR rank, while INF is for completing the PvE chapters.

From your post i can read you doing mostly PvE - so your options to get better gear is loot from PQs, where you may need a group for, and the INF rewards you get anyways, while the sets that drop from the PQs have bonuses.

Apart from that there are several quests that will drop gear, you can also check: https://wiki.returnofreckoning.com/inde ... pic_Quests - But be aware, not all of them are doable solo early in game.

If you have spare gold take a look at the auction house in the capital, too.

This answer helps. I have been doing mostly rvr on my WP. RR18 now whilst my character rank is 13. But I shall get to it straight away. No point in dalying.

Glad i can help, but don't get it wrong, you can find proper gear depending on the spec you are running in both PvP and PvE, while the PvP gear in endgame is and most likely will be BiS (Best in Slot).

Also you should consider having your RR high enough every time, at least to wear the PvP eqipment which in T4 requires RR 39 for a full set, and 45 for weapons from SCs.
Some say RR=XP is fine, I personally like to max it out as much as possible, like going T1 until at least RR 20+ or even more, therefore your progress sounds good.

If you are way ahead with your RR you can catch up with XP if you want, it may be harder the other way round.

Also, there are people that grind to high XP and start doing PvP after it, but that is mostly viable only with dedicated groups im small scale, pugging with high XP / low RR won't be funny though.

Sound very resonable. I have noticed while looking over the wiki links you sent, that having a High RR does more for you in terms of gear than having a high CR (character rank). i will try to keep going in this way. i find leveling CH is more of a strugle than RR atm.
