Jumping Forward Bug

Has anyone noticed that jumping sometimes seems to boost players forward a bit? I play a SH so this is easy for me to notice. If I kite a player and they are not quite in melee range, I have noticed that some will jump until they are able to reach me or other players. Is this a glitch in the server, lag DPS or something else? The boost forward seems to be 5-10 ft and it doesn't happen all the time. It is very hard to notice unless of course someone is chasing you and just outside of melee range (which is a whole other subject when MDPS sometimes have 25 ft long arms).

I notice certain DPS AMs do this to escape/outrun melee...without hitting Flee.

Yes, some players seem to excessively exploit this atm. I've seen a video where this was possible on the original server during the beta. I can't remember that it was possible like that later in the game.

Jumping in live used to avoid aoes that fire forward as well as slightly increase movement speed isn't really an exploit

im jumping all the time, but just for the lulz or to exploit the terrain (like little fences or stones) to get rid of followers. tbh i never noticed that i would get any more distance to pursuers on a flat area. the thing may be that if you jump all the time while going on an upward ramp-like terrain, you get a bit ahead..?

It makes it almost impossible to catch a running target atm, it was also very popular to avoid being catched by a melee pet on the original server.
Imo using a weakness in the game intentionally to get an advantage is the definition of an exploit.

So this leads to the question: Does jumping while strafing also produce the same movement speed increase and aoe avoidance as running forward? Kiters must strafe. MDPS runs forward.

I would be inclined to view that as an exploit.

I don't think jumping can be an exploit. It was like this on live.

Well, that or shitty coding on Mythic's part. Anyone who intentionally designs a game where you get a speed boost from permanently bunny hopping shouldn't be in the field.
