Remove Username Requirement from Recovery Process

There is no good reason to require both username and email address when requesting a recovery email. If you haven't played in months, like myself, there's a good chance you may have forgotten it. The only reason I'm logged in right now is because I happened to receive an update newsletter that contained my username. Without that newsletter I would still be trying to figure out some way of contacting someone. Please change your recovery system on the forum. Email address is enough for 99% of websites, and it should be the same here.

There is also a high chance that some "friend" of yours knows the info too...You see, they can't just give out an username, you have to bring something, some proof that it's your account. So may people share account info with friends that eventually harm them...

If you share your username, email address, the password to one/or both... Well, you deserve to lose your account.

I really don't see how you find that to be a credible argument. Plenty of much bigger, busier websites don't worry about a username when sending a recovery email to an address. If you're really concerned with account security then add 2FA.

If you need your username, send me an email at [email protected] and I'll look it up for you based on the account you've sent it from. This isn't some big company, we're just a handful of people trying to keep the dream alive.

even if you share your account and password you don't share your email access...., kind agree once you tell your email you have to log into it for reset password , unless some hacker got everything from you in which case he alredy changed email so no brain email is enough

much more important would be instead dont use the same id as log in as forum username because YOU know they alredy have the id to log in your account (50% of the work done)..... kinda basic as thing but i alredy wrote this and got a no in response so xD

Not to tack on, but can you change the email address attched to username for recovery?. I would like to make it my new current email that i actualy use.

I'll keep the email address handy in case I forget my username again. I also understand and appreciate the hard work you guys put in. I only meant larger companies don't bother with the level of security your recovery system has, so it's worth considering a change.
