Ok, i have a dok in t2/t3... So last night i get into an SC and it seemed like a 6v6 in battle for praag..
We were losing, but not horrificly, yet.. We had no other healers at the point i joined, so i figured.. we can bring this back..
Because you know, things could happen? lol. The outcome of the game is not decided before it starts..
(or am i playing the wrong game)
So anyway... after we wipe another time... i point out that a guard might be nice because we have 2 tanks and neither of them is using their guard, and i cant really heal if i cant even get into hitting-range of the enemy.
At which point a marauder replies in SC chat, something very similar to:
" Oh its pointless, they have 2 healers "
It's been a while since i've actually been frustrated with a game, or at least the players on my team.. But that was enough tbh. I mean its pointless me trying to get some sort of teamwork with replies like that, its pointless me running in if nobody follows...
..When i did, right at the end... i almost completely **** murdered one of 2 WP's solo... So, that kind of reinforced my opinion that we DID very much have a chance and my team were just the weakest of weaksauce.
But after that reply i just kind of stood afk at the spawn, and watched people die...
Not out of spite, but simply: everyone was running in one by one and any attempts i had made to actually get some sort of teamwork/cooperation had been dismissed by some idiot i wasnt even talking to.
So i'm curious, who here feels the game is decided before it starts? and they look at the roster and think 'oh this is lost'
...I can see some times that might be a problem, like last night we rolled into an SC with a fairly balanced party where again.. i was the only healer.. and order had like 5 witch hunters...
After getting absolutely **** murdered twice.. i was about ready to not leave the spawn again, but that was actually, im sad to say.. one of the more fun games i've had, because they didn't have the healer.. So once i stopped running in first, and i guess they stopped focusing the **** out of me it became playable lol.
Still, it seems like if you're going to queue for pug SC's maybe you shouldn't throw in the towel after dying once...
I dont know if made a point? or asked a question...
I guess if i had to make a point it would be.. Yegods i wish SC's were given a slightly longer 'start up timer' and there was some effort made by people to communicate other that say 3 words.. 'go for middle flag'
..But ****, if that's the only teamwork im going to get... I'll take that.. at least that person is trying.

Even in a full premade, we join Scs and look at the roster saying, "Well, this is gonna hurt..." when we have pugs with no healer as a 2nd grp going against a double premade. That's just being realistic, doesn't mean you have to AFK in the spawn and watch people die, though I do that sometimes. After 4+ deaths with nothing achieved, I will call it and just wait it out or go try and PvE some flags.
Yes, you might of killed that WP with a guard, hell you might of killed both of em before they got a rezz, heal, morale, CC, etc. Then you would of all died, since you had no healer and DoTs would end you.
It comes down to how you feel about beating your head against a brick wall over and over. After a point, a lot of people say "feck it, I don't find this fun in anyway shape or form, so I'm gonna do something else". This is a Game after all. Hence, why once you no longer had any fun you stopped playing and watched them die.
PUGing will always be BYOH. Bring Your Own Healer.
Form a group and get on Coms. Sounds like you are very ready for something mildly organized...
P.S. Ignoring the DoK with no healers comment. Asking a DPS healer for heals is like bitching at an Engi for not having Keg. Play your class the way you want, if I'm not in a premade with you, I'll slot whatever tactics I feel like.

This is why I tend to only solo que for scenarios that have alternative win conditions besides "zerg here" like reikland factory, or scenarios that are particularly fast so if it's a hopeless SC at least it's only 5 minutes.
So for instance instance right now I just que for doomfist crater, and nordenwatch if the realm im on is doing bad in scenarios.

Obviously the dok is a healer, so after i had fully loaded in.. we had 1 healer..

When pugging I accept that circa ~25% of scs are hopeless due to bad setup versus good enemy setup, 25% you have better setup and 50% it is actually a challenge as both sides have a setup that poses a challenge.
With pugging you simply never know what you get, it's part of the fun!

I read the OP, and I believe the basic premise is, at times, sound. There are very clear and definable moments when SC's are lost the moment they start, but that phenomena isn't restricted to SC's. I have seen entire Order warbands turn and run from one from one destruction player, in essence conceding the fight without effort, and it is maddening. But apparently it is part of the game.

People just don't have the heart to try and fight. Randoms don't even look at the scoreboard to see whether they are outnumbered or what the opposition's team liability is in order to focus damage onto them... most randoms run in randomly and die, and right after call it unbalanced/impossible to win and go afk.
Look at the fight for example, nobody would expect a group with 3 tanks, 2 dps and 1 healer without a healing an inc healing debuff and without voice-coms would go on and fight head-to-head against a full melee train (they so op right?) with double back-line, armor-stacking DoKs (they so op too!), in a 6v6 fight.
