Need replacement for nerfedbuttons

Hi there,

the other day I read a conversation ingame where a GM told us that nerfedbuttons would probably be disabled when control over client is achieved. I understand the reasons and see it as a sensible move.

The thing is I am a Nerfed Buttons user. I don't use it on my zealot, nor on my kotbs (I am guilty of playing both factions too), as the number of keybinds I have to use is not very high. On my SM PlanB helps me a lot so I don't need NB: But I have it enabled on my mara and bg. I only use it partially, as I have never had the patience or wits to go through the training to set up conditional stuff and all that. I can only put skills in a rotation by order of importance, but even in that limited way it is extremely useful to me.

My problem is I am no longer a young person and my fingers, which have never been very nimble, are now somewhat made slower and stiffer by age and mild arthritic conditions. I can do reasonably well with the z-n keys with my left thumb while I drive with the mouse on my right hand (at least I am not a clicker), but the numbers and f-1 f-9 I have to activate with my pinky and ring fingers, and it feels really awkward and even painful after a while. the possibility to have several abilities on only one key allows me to use the ones that don't give me a lot of discomfort.

To cut a long story short. The GM ingame told us that maybe some other addons will be allowed if they don't contain the unfair automatical edge that nerfedbuttons is felt to give. So in theory an addon that only allowed you to put some abilities on the same key would be OK to use, I guess.

Are there any such addons? is it possible to set several abilities to one key without an addon? can macros achieve that? if so, how do macros work?

There is no real replacement for NB but the closest thing is PlanB and Castsequencer (https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/castsequence/).

Try it out but it offers no conditionals at all to my knowledge

I'm trying out Castsequencer for a day or two now and I have to say, while it is a far fetch from NB (which is mainly a good thing), it does let you set up basic sequences, which you can reset after a set amount of time or on target switching. That's about the extent of it.

One thing that does annoy me about it, is that you cannot sequence invalid skills. For example, if you have a cleanse (which you cannot cast unless your target has a cleansable debuff on him), the sequence never rotates beyond it.

Am I missing something? NB would still work if conditionals were removed, so why would you look after other addons? Cant still use NB for stacking few skills on one button?

Somehow I assumed the whole addon would be disabled. I didnt think It would be possible that NB could be allowed to remain minus the conditionals. If It were so as Telperien pointed out I'd be really happy.

Only way to disable NB at all is disable stacking more than skills on one button, but that would break PlanB or any addon that let you do it. Castsequence too. I dont mind that, but wouldnt it make some classes easier to play than others? Compare avarage used skills by kotbs and IB.

You might want to give a steam controller a go, you have a lot of different button combinations at your finger tips because you can shift mode all the buttons, have buttons do different actions on single click, double click, hold etc. You can run in mouse look mode and by using one of the track pads for look and analog joystick for movement (left and right being strafe) it works really well.
