[Marauder] Wave of Terror and a possible change.

Hello.

Please forgive my ignorance for posting this in [Suggestion] earlier, wasn't aware that the gameplay and balance discussion forum had subforums.
I hope this wont be counted as double posting, since I am posting this now in the right subforum as it should have been from the beginning.
I literally never use this kind of forums except for ror.

Okey moving on.


Seeing as there is going to be alot of changes to classes in the future, marauder being one of them is inevitable I reccon.
So I will take my oppertunity to push my agenda for the marauder or at least a suggestion for a change instead of possibly straight out remove some of the marauder's abilitys, specifically of how ''Wave of Terror'' can actually become an ability that is used.
Not that I wouldn't mind Wave of terror to be overhauled entirely but here goes.

Wave of Terror's only use afaik I know is with an aoe build for mara's but even then it's an awkward build http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=mar ... :;;0:0:0:0:

Wave of Terror's use is to stop moral gains which is a thing more or less only in wb v bw situations.
Destruction's wb's NEED marauder's to drain morale or they will lose because of BW's that can reach morale 2 in around 12 sec.
Even though marauder's have a tactic like Crushing blows that already drains morale on a 25% chance on hit, I just hate to see a useful ability like Wave of terror for an aoe build just sitting high up there in the brutality tree doing nothing.
Marauder's damage in the aoe build is barely doing any kind of damage atm since the new changes with the dok.
Even though Wrecking ball was buffed it was basically only viable with 2 dok's and 1 sorc in the party to have those lovely procs going off with wrecking ball to put pressure up.
Now the aoe build for marauder's is almost back to square one of its usefullness in wb v wb and that is being a debuffer.
I can live with that so my suggestion is as follows.

To switch ''Wave of terror'' with ''Thunderous blows'' http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=mar ... ;;;0:0:0:0:

So before the readers choke on their coffee, please hear me out.

Path of Savagery is a tree that is too useful to skip because everything good is in it, most noticeable the healdebuff tactic, armor debuff and wound debuff.

Path of Brutality is a tree that have a good tactic and 2 abilitys, Guillotine and Mutated agressor but anything above 9 points are NEVER used unless you have personal hate for AM's and well then you have Wave of terror because reasons.

In my opinion wave of terror has no place being top ability in path of brutality, it's aoe and mediocre damage but a good debuff only usefull for wb v wb situations afaik.
Thus making Thunderous Blow a better option to be a top ability in Path of Brutality, that in return will make path of brutality a stronger tree by itself.
Thunderous blow is a very strong singeltarget ability that should be in the top of a path imo, what better path to be in than brutality is there?

This will change the current meta build with mara slightly but wait there is more!

LOL! Barely anyhing have changed, fail! Draining swipes will be a dead ability as much as wave of terror!
That is maybe what some will think soooo...
Switching place with cutting claw and draining swipe will put cutting claw in a spot where it deserves to be.

So if a Marauder absolutly must have cutting claw and thunderous blow they have to make sacrifices to get them and not be able to get absolutly everything that is good with mara.

Now is the question for someone else to answer (preferably a veteran or an expert), will marauder be a potent singeltarget melee dps in 1v.. ehh 6v6 with such changes?


So back to Wave of terror, at long last.

Now with wave of terror taking the place of where thunderous blows once were.
Wave of terror is in a place where people can try it out and actually use it for some new creative builds or setups.
It is not the greatest of abilitys but at least it will see some light once in a while and it's a shame that is not used more because it's a uniqe ability.

The aoe builds for mara in a wb v wb setup will have 2 options.

First one is the aoe marauder debuffer, morale debuffer and ap drain with tactic, avarage damage output.
Wave of terror will make up for the lack of damage the marauder will have.

Second is more of a damage (''burst'') build for the aoe marauder.

Anyways this is my suggestion for a possible mara change.
I personally would like to have all the abilitys intact for mara instead of having some of the abilitys straight up removed (assuming that such plans were thought of), mara is an expert melee class and should have good options as such.

Can't really swap abilities from different trees until we have client control. You can edit your proposal having this in mind, and if nothing is changed in a few days I will unfortunately have to decline it.

Update: OP hasn't changed his proposal, so I will have to decline it until we have client control.
