Hey guys,
Three friends and I do a monthly "Game Club", where we pick a game in advance and all four play it one weekend. Being odler gamers it's hard to organise time together so this is our attempt.
With that in mind, next week we're playing RoR. None of us have played before (like vanilla), so we're pretty clueless. I was wondering if anyone might be able to give us some tips for 4 man group comps for classes. We need a tank, healer, two dps. Preferably classes that have higher skill ceilings. We may not level to max so would be nice if the classes get interesting before max level too.
Any tips would be much appreciated!

For starting tiers, best fun(imo) would be:
Order:
Dps Archmage, Slayer, knight, rune priest
Lower tier AMs are a lot of fun to run DPS and can still heal when needed(+auot rezz), and it works very well, slayers are a great entry DPS class(depending on style change to White Lion), knights have a lot of utility, and RP over WP simply due to the tiers.
End game the "comp" would change drastically. But lower tiers the classes balance out a bit different.
I agree with Jail on dessie, but I'm not a big destro fan. I just love Z's...

Re: 4 man group comp
If u choose the good side (read Destro), I would recommend:
Black Orc as ur tank or dps - Solid with shield, Good with 2h axe and hes fun to play.
Disciple of Khaine - best healer and can assist with 2 swords.
Shaman - burst heal/burst dps and hell of a fun!
Choppa/Marauder - Solid dmg and Mara can tank a bit.
Kick out Shamy, take both Choppa and Mara and u have a nice melee train
Or u can try racial grp - Greenskins are easy the most funniest of all races and they re good early on (but dont count too much on heals, as shamy is the weakest of healers).

Re: 4 man group comp
Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I will have to Google some of the acronyms haha, but this is a great start. Fun is probably more important that "meta-tiers" for us, although I wouldn't want to give anyone a gimped class!
Someone in a thread on Reddit mentioned that we can PvP from fairly early on - could anyone advise just how early that is, and what order( if any) we should do things? I.e Stick to area X until Level Y, then queue for this instance and fighting in this zone etc. I understand we should do something called "scenarios" as soon as possible after getting some rudimentary gear in PvE, but then i'm quite unsure! Is there an open world zone we should travel to and spend most of our time? Or will the PvP be mostly instanced?
We don't mind a bit of grinding (we just finished playing Lineage 2!) but I would prefer a change of pace, some PvP if possible!

Re: 4 man group comp
You can queue for scenarios from the beginning as a group.
Open-PvP from lvl 1-11 is fairly boring, but happens in nordland/norsca. From your starting point just travel north (as order) or south (as destro) to go to the open pvp zone. From level 11-21 you can go to T2 and raid castles (or doing scenarios). If you only want to play for a weekend you should avoid fast leveling, because T3 (level 22-31) is often empty and not much happens there.
I doubt you will reach T4 within a weekend.

Re: 4 man group comp
Nothing will come close to BO+mara+DoKx2
The reason is, to full enjoy all content in the game you NEED 2 healers in your party period. Secondly you also have to have a tank and a DPS. In the realm of DPS Mara stands out ahead of all DPS in the fact that it brings EVERYTHING a DPS would want in one package, while on order for instance WL has no inc HD and Slayer has no armor debuff etc...
BO is a very good tank, if not the best in the game and complements and is complemented by the mara more so than chosen.
Your best player will need to be on the BO, as the most pressure will likely be on him with guard swapping and such as well as keeping pressure on targets with the mara.
This is ofcourse the most tryhard/meta milking 4 man you can do.

If this is a one time thing you will probably only play in t1 and t2. Personally i find dok and wp very boring to play before t3. They also have a "clunky" feel to them before t3. I would go with rp/zealot as healer as they play properly from level 1.
