No Race Selection??

Hey Peeps! Found out about this Private WAR server and was so excited to hear it existed....well followed the instructions on game download and launcher download....game loads and I am seeing steps, an arch, and a tent, and 4 buttons along the bottom of the screen cinematic, credits, settings and quit. I have left it on for up to 20 to 30 minutes, but I never get any other option to continue from this point.....It has been a long while since I played this awesome game and I cannot remember what is next. Oh also in the lower left corner I can see version number 1.4.8 Build 573. There is an error message I get when the launcher starts and before the WAR logo log in screen, I will have to post that error......ok well any help is appreciated thx in advance!

UPDATE: Here is the error message...the right side is chopped of as the error window can not scroll right....
