[WIP] Gear Drop Locations

General Drop Rules:

Unless otherwise stated, any mob which drops Storm-Courser, +10 Jewellery or cloaks drops Gale-Runner. The size of the Gale-Runner item pool differs between different mobs, with Snotwood Spites perhaps having the largest list in the entire game.

Decimator Gear, and Why Not To Pay For It:

An exploit which a lot of players are aware of once existed which was capable of creating massive numbers of Recruit's Medallions - usually somewhere in the region of 65,000 per usage. This makes Decimator gear of extremely low value as the supply is massive. NEVER buy Decimator gear from anyone, as if they are selling, it's likely that they were either duping themselves or have bought a mass of duped medallions for a knockoff price. Either way, they're trying to make a lasting profit off the exploit by exploiting ignorance, and whether that gear (and the medallions) will be deleted or not is in doubt per a developer comment on the issue a few months ago.

For the record, Medallions are acquired from BO guards and nowhere else.

General Farm Spots for Each Faction:

Order

Mount Bloodhorn - Snotwood Forest
55k, 27k
Snotwood Spite, Snotwood Wolf

Mount Bloodhorn - Mahgraz Ritual
38k, 37k
Ironclaw Boy, Rocksmasha

Mount Bloodhorn - Roundfeather Vulture Nest
51k, 34k
Roundfeather Vulture

Destruction

The Inevitable City - South of the Apex
30k, 42k
Lost Soul, Horrified Soul

Ekrund - Broketoof Basha Camp
54k, 52k
Broketoof Basha, Broketoof Crusha

Interesting Drops By Zone:

Altdorf

After a recent patch which modified the spawn locations, the cluster of Pale-Eyes that once existed has been broken up, with the individual bandits scattered between the houses. It's no longer viable to farm in Altdorf.

The Inevitable City

The most well-known farming location for Destruction. Almost all of the gear that drops here is available on the Auction House, and items that do not drop in this spot are rare because of how singularly this spot has been farmed over the course of RoR. I don't recommend farming here if you have the money to use the AH.

Lost Soul
Cloaks:

Skullhorn Gor, Skullhorn Ungor, Bloodpelt Gor, Bloodpelt Ungor
Drops of Interest:
  • Drop Lv19 gear
Removed Chaos Spawn - they're now 42 Heroes and not interesting at all

Nordland

This is incomplete. Many mobs which spawned here offering good drops for Destruction were removed outright or fixed by a patch, and the Nordland Huntshounds, while having interesting drops, are aggroed and killed by the surrounding Nordland Huntsmen. The most important aspect of this zone is that it contains Godin Varr, who can be farmed for easy +8 Squig Herder jewellery and shoulders.

Drops of Interest:
  • Sholdateef of the Intruder 1.72%
Jewelry:
  • +8 Goblin Ballistic Skill 1.72%
OMG EZMODE NERF SQUIG HERDERS!

Norsca

Mobs in Norsca generally drop Empire jewellery at good rates, varying from 0.06% to 0.3%. There are so many mobs that do this, and such a plentiful supply of Empire jewellery around anyway, that I can't be bothered to list them individually. The Empire bias is REAL.

Gale-Runner is rare in this zone, even from mobs of higher level than 9. Only the Ritualist Navr and Kruisspin drop it.

Ritualist Navr

What the hell is this 0.01%, looks like masochism. Needs 1% minimum or better few percent.

Its 0.1% for a certain item for that career. Anything that can drop an item for one career can drop the equivalent for any of that factions careers. It can also drop any quality of a certain gear level. So any gale-runner drops also have a chance to drop war-torn, storm courser or tempest-rider at a reduced rate.

The server database is available so you can just look up what drops where and at what chance.

Most mobs drop a limited set of gear, which generally has a 0.01% drop chance. It can't be generalized to 0.1% for a given mob to drop items of your career as most of those items won't be in the drop table.
Telen wrote:So any gale-runner drops also have a chance to drop war-torn, storm courser or tempest-rider at a reduced rate.
Incorrect. They're separate entires in the database. That's why certain mobs in the list are marked with "Storm-Courser" or "Tempest-Rider" entries - because they drop certain pieces of it, which I've marked. This has been verified by apparent drops in game - we've seen only the Tempest-Rider's Clogs on Order, which are known to drop from the database.

EDIT: I'm outlining how it works on RoR. If it works differently on live, then it should be made that way here. :P

Individual mobs didn't have their own loot table in the mythic game. Only named mobs.

Seems that the database is likely pulled from the old wardb sites drop lists that were nowhere near complete.

Regular mobs had uncommon items based on creature type that was the junk or quest collections. Then pulled randomly from an separate gear list that was based on the level of the mob.

You could grind any regular pve drop gear from anything as long as it was the correct level. This prevented spawn camping for rare items on anything other than unique creatures that had longer spawn timers.

That's great to hear. I've long wanted to see all mobs of a given level drop the correct gear. I'm glad you remember this stuff.

I think originally it was to make gearing simpler but then they adjusted it so no mobs below 12 dropped these bis t1 gear. To keep them from free trials and to encourage them to go to t2. It was advantageous for subs as you could grind any of the t2 chapter 5 pq mobs to gear alts.

Then they totally removed the shoulders from t1 gear sets and helm from t1 and 2 sets as subs were twinking. Mythics usual method of if all can't have fun no-one will. These low level pve gear sets actually made people want to collect gear to look cool. Another thing a private server can put right.
