Tank Meter in SC's to promote..... Tanks

Okay, I'm sure this has been made once, maybe twice, how about 356 times? Tanks have no incentive to guard someone they don't know/are partied with/don't like - why?

At the end of the SC, the healers get to say WOAH I did so well. DPS including slayers and Magus (their one time to shine) get to LOL at how they wrecked the show despite having 1-2 KB's haha. But still, they gauge performance off DB's and Damage, just like healers gauge healing by deaths and obviously healing numbers.

TANKS NEED AN SC STAT - need is a strong word but it is always fun to type in caps.

I am not the czar of all that is good and holy so I'm sure that there have been better suggestions and probably will be to this day, but I also get frustrated when I see tanks who are playing tanks that are supposed to tank or deal some decent damage/debuffs/buffs AND TANK who don't guard.

Lets just eliminate all L2P, get a group nub, search in LFG, you solo yolo'd so what do you expect, and so on comments b/c you are most likely a douche or a troll or both and if so I hope you enjoy that pug stompin or maybe you are one of those guys who "only does 6v6 bro" yet is nearly always in 500-0 pug matches while other premades are on. I digress....

So... there are some meh addons for guarding, just like assisting. But seeing how those two mechanics are the most important ones in the entire game when it comes to winning an SC, and to an extent RvR but this is about SC's.... I believe there should be a category allotted for tanks. They really need something to go on. The 6v6 guys usually say "I don't even look at the scoreboard bro" but shut up... the rest of us use it and other things to gauge performance other than obvious "win" or "lose"

There are a lot of other issues with the game being that T4 was just released and they will most likely take priority over a seemingly minor issue such as this.... however I beg a staff member to at least consider some possible way of detecting damage taken through guarding.

It does NOT have to be perfect. And at the least it would make the people who never receive guard shut up as they can rest at ease that the selfish jerk did not guard a single person the entire game. Being an optimistic individual I think it would allow tanks (every single tank i've ever spoken to in game/ts/vox/voip/sc chat/etc) has agreed on that it would be awesome to finally have a category of their own.

It could show a straight up number such as "damage intercepted" - this would show a basic number of damage that was bestowed upon them pre mitigation/parry to show that the tank had correctly guarded and at the least regardless of parry/block and what not TANKED damage... I leave any other possibilities up to those with a far greater imagination than myself.. but just like more people play destro tanks than order tanks because they looked/look worlds better than glitter fest fabbbbulusssssss Knights of the Blazin Fairy Land, I think more tanks would guard to get higher guard numbers. EVEN if they were just doing it for the scoreboard, like if they had no other intention other than to be number 1 on the scoreboard for guard... they would still be using guard... and tanking. As someone who has played every single healing class to 35 (not 40 yet) and every single healer in a dps spec on both order/destro, I fully appreciate 600 damage being changed to 300 damage over 2 targets as it makes a HoT twice as effective. Not that everyone is dumb... but few realize that. Something as simple as this would be extremely helpful and I see literally zero negatives for the amount of good it would do. I believe the dev team here could do this in a matter of minutes and be done with it. Maybe I have too much faith in them... but they are pretty smart guys and as far as "bang for your buck" goes in development. This is a very small thing that could do worlds of good for the SC community including PUG groups and Premades.

i would love to have stats showing the damage i received during the sc but i dont know if its possible for RoR Team to implement

If your even a decent player you won't need such "things" to make you use your class mechanics

Real tanks dont need a stat telling them if they did good/bad.

- "we missed you last night, the tank who replaced you was horrible"
- "thanks for the guard that last SC, did a great job staying close to me and assisting"
- "awesome crowd control!"
- "great guard swapping, you won us that SC"

These messages (if you receive them) are much more important than any stat.

well... this is the curse of tanks man, and why people never wanna play them... They deal little damage and there is no "easy" way to assist or swap guard or even tell where your guarded target is half the time, not to mention you are guarding someone and they think "oh ****, Im the man!" then B line it to the back line while you are slowing yelling at your monitor "slow down! your out of my guard range bro!!!!"

Its a thankless job where you have zero "metric" to look at when the SC finishes saying "dude I guarded 200k damage!" so you just say "hey, i did 30k damage and I THINK I helped!" and again to mention... you never see big numbers LOL.

Most 2h tanks dont even spec defensively and just go full STR too... Which is just dumb IMO as guard /assist is SUCH a big deal for this game.

its really a shame (I know you guys are SUPER SUPER BUSY so dont let this come across the wrong way) that guarding and assisting isnt better supported in game. As a Chosen, if I come into an SC late, I have no time to swap groups around, find a good target to guard (half the time I can never tell is a DoK is melee or heals, or a choppa has good gear or **** and isnt worth guarding) because everyone likes to /anonymous now a days because they are too cool for school... not just guard, going into my macros, typing out these LONG ass names like /assist Khelhashtanginla and misspelling the last portion with an "e" instead of "a" because were losing the bauble at mid as I sit in spawn typing this **** out..... Or one of my FAVORITE guys to guard "kekekekekekekeke" or is it "kekekekekekekekekekeke". (he is a good player and worth guard btw).

Guarding and Assisting are SUCH A HUGE FREAKING DEAL in this game, it realyl deserves some better in game support - NOT with macros or add ons. You cant expect everyone to run these and a new player or even a "seasoned player" isnt going to take the tons of extra work to just guard bot /assist a random MDPS guy he doesnt know and later finds out to be a total scrub...

IMO - guarding should show an animation when its actually being applied. The SAME animation (for all I care) when you cast the damn thing. When you are in range of your "guard-ee" that animation should show BOTH on your and him (again, like when you cast) but up 24/7 as long as its actually on the guy. This both provides a "tell" offensively and defensively around guard without having to go "oh ****, my numbers are cut in half, this guy must be guarded".

Also, assisting. There really needs to be an easy way to see who your defensive target is targeting. I think of almost any MMO game I have played, and they have had in game support for this. I think an easy solution would be an "A" next to their name to auto swap to their target. An IDEAL would be to have a "target of target" show where its a small portrait of the enemy's HP etc that you click on and swaps your offensive target over to.

It would ALSO be great if we could somehow track guarded damage taken. We talked about this before, but having a metric at the end of an SC showing 100k damage guarded, would be pretty cool to show the impact a tank made to the group. Although since all these will take a ton of DEV time to implement, I would rather have the assist and guard support over this guard metric.

As a tank I always measured how I fared in SC by checking how much my guard targets had dmg done/kb/deaths/healing done
So we already have our stat for sc's, maybe not so direct as dmg done/kb's but it's already there

Oh, and medalions earned are the best stat ever
