This thread serves to discuss whether or not pve and quests in particular are rewarding enough to even bother doing them. In my experience early on in RoR (might have changed since), quests were simply a waste of time. Why? The xp was equivalent to that of killing a few mobs, and the rewards were subpar. If I wanted to level up fast, I would just grind mobs.
WAR obviously revolves around RvR, but I think if some other aspects are ignored then it shrinks the MMO. I think that if questing or pve in general were given some love, then people would bother to go out of their way to experience what else this game could offer them. Overall, it would give WAR more character, I think, in addition to the great RvR aspect of the game.
Of course, I love RvR, scenarios, etc. You will see me doing them all the time. This is not a thread about RvR, but about pve. I enjoy RvR just like everyone else. I also love pve and questing too, and I am sure some of you who are familiar with other MMOs enjoy the immersion questing offers. Exploring zones through questing, getting involved with quest chains, etc, etc, makes the world feel alive.
At the moment, WAR feels very small. It feels like the world is confined to RvR lakes and scenarios. Part of the journey of MMOs is just that, a journey. But grinding SCs and hopping from RvR lake to lake does not feel much like a journey. A player who chooses to pve as a means to level up compared to a player who chooses RvR is at a serious disadvantage. Of course, this makes sense. Pve was never meant to be on par with RvR. Especially come T4. But why couldn't the lower tiers have pve content that, if not equal, be in the same league as RvR in comparison of rewards? At the moment, when players want to level through pve, they are just grinding rats. I think this speaks volumes about how ineffective pve is when players would resort to mindless grinding of mobs. Why couldn't quests be a better alternative than grinding rats? And why is grinding rats a better venue compared to questing?
I can't say I have any answers to these questions, or have any suggestions to bring pve out of the gutters. So any thoughts? Is pve a waste of time? Could it be improved? Or is it fine as it is. What could be done to get pve some representation and get players invovled?
Thanks for reading!

Re: Questing and PVE
Well the rewards have to be somewhat limited if one quest gives a BIS item. Then there's not really anything else to do after that. Rewards should scale with the effort that goes into acquiring them and questing was designed to be something you could solo.

Re: Questing and PVE
I think that if quests offered perhaps more xp compared to rvr, then there would be an incentive to do something other than queue for SCs or orvr. At the moment, I feel as if rvr gives you everything and pve is just a defunct part of the game.
Re: Questing and PVE
PvE in live could get you stuff that was quite useful. I just wished they had bumped some of the stuff up when they introduced the more powerful gear. I really wanted to finish the Lost Vale.
Order only. Just High Elves.
Xramoth-Swordmaster (in live was Ramoth)
Caranath-White Lion (in live was Niniel)
Maldavie-Archmage (Same name in live)
