How long does a ban last?

So I just got banned from the game for spam guild recruiting.

If I knew spam guild recruiting was so terrible I would not have done it. I am quite reasonable and if I knew I was falling out of your gaming etiquette I would not have done it.

How long do ban's last is it permanent? Is there a time limit? Am I gone for good?
