You do get 1 badge for losing as long as it's above a certain value. At least it was like this.

Yeah, the balance in scenarios is screwed right now, many 12v8 and such. I even had 12v4 scen once.

I will be adding an output for any scenario which pops from now, showing to whom the pop was offered, just to verify that the group queue is not at fault.

Since PvP is the entire purpose of WAR,
balancing Scenarios should be the first thing developers look into.


Here are some ways to balance:

Premades vs. Premades & Pugs vs. Pugs
Have a map specifically for Premades that you cannot Solo queue into. The rest of the maps are solo queue only.

Balance Levels
Calculate Levels into a sum for both teams and match the sum of numbers close together.

Balance Support
Simple and most effective - Match Tank & Healer numbers on both teams.

thats nice idea but with all this restriction you will never get pop

Nah pop will still happen, alot.

Better to wait 5 minutes for a balanced game than sit through an unbalanced game that takes 15.

I promised group queuing, not perfect balance. If we were talking solo queue only, then I could implement these checks, but the group queue code is complex enough as it is and I have no intention to make it thoroughly awful by attempting to check for these conditions.

If you want properly balanced scenarios then we're using a matchmaking system, splitting the queues into Solo Queue and Teams, like Bloodline Champions and similar games do/did, forcing balanced compositions and allowing only certain queue sizes. Anything else would just be a half arsed implementation, and what's more, one that would be difficult, overly complex and time consuming.

I'm quite happy so far w/ just group que, which seems to have taken quite a lot of time to implement, something I and probably a lot of others didn't realize would be the case. And there is no reason to spend even more time on making them perfectly balanced when the game is only in T2 and class balance is up in the air. I agree with your "do it right or don't do it all attitude". There are probably much more important things to allocate develop time to at the moment.

Since you have added mourkain and group que the state of SCs have improved dramatically since I started this thread.

Is the patch you were working on yesterday fully implemented yet? Or is it not getting patchnotes?

I am against group queue but do not loose other times on sc for now, they are "not" the core of the game and they will never be.
