I finally got my engi geared and did some scenarios, and now I have experience at max level/decent gear for both magus and engineer on this server.
Engineer is definitely much, much better than magus is right now. Better M2, Ranged AA, abilities scaling off weapons, Phy damage is very strong right now, with turret debuff and another one from like IB I can crit light/robe targets for nearly 800 damage w/ gun blast. And of course BB spammable cone AoE, and its amazing synergy w/ M2.
People saying that we are only playing engineer because of abusing LoS in keeps need to get a reality check, engineers are extremely strong right now, and even if we can't wallbang w/ blunderbust its still going to be extremely hard for a pug WB to deal w/ one or two engineers getting healed at a keep. I could do the same thing on my sorc spamming crystal spikes and the cone AoE through walls with only 1 healer. It's much harder to attack a keep than it is to defend it for both sides, its not a destro or order only issue.

So you come with 4-5 ingé on scen and do exploit all the time ! We cant do any defense against you and your exploiting turrets and co Choppa and co if they are not healed they die beause you exploit whit all your abilities trow the wall and door ! really easy to play your career we are safe on back line i put turret here front of wall and go take a coffee and go exploit .
I playing destro and on our side any party come on scean with 4-5 magus 4-5 sorc to do exploit but your side yes SoD DoE guild are enojyed to exploit that !

On the flipside stacking weapon skill on the engineer is... really inefficient? Compared to other classes. As it's a hybrid class that probably deals just as much magic damage as it does physical, so when you are pumping weapon skill into the character you are not gaining anything for those skills that are not physical.
Also this means that when the engineer is disarmed he cannot use most of his abilities, whereas the magus is left able to still cast (I think?).
On paper it sounds like engineer would make the better single target DPS when built correctly for that purpose (Bal + WpnSkill), but I never played much of either class lategame on live so I can't say for certain, and I know the armor values of post Sov gear were retarded and could of made magus the better just because of that.
