This was a disaster for the server. There is still time to bring it back for everyone, and I'm sure there are people who would return.
Umm so am I getting this right?

There used to be an addon that pressed the buttons for you. They banned it and this was a disaster for server.

Is that so?
No.

It was a sequencer used in WAR that allowed you to load sequences with conditional logic.

But the decision of which sequence to use always rested with the player.

Above all, this addon allowed you to play various characters with ease—especially if you were a casual player (not to mention players with physical injuries who simply couldn't play without it).

But the more important thing, it was available to all players.

And yes, from that moment on, the server began losing players—losses that have never been recovered.
If people leave a game because of a sequencer, that’s a clear skill issue. It’s not like RoR is overly complicated as a game.

I’d say only Engineer (don’t play Magus) requires most skills and most tool bars, and some hybrid classes where you need to stance dance like aSW/Mara need proper management, but with a lot of other classes you can get away with far less and still do well.

This is not a difficult PvP MMO, even for casuals.

Your turn.
Pleasure is not an objective measure of reality, but a metric within your own brain. The unpleasant truth is that both the world and the game have remained exactly the same. It’s just that you’ve grown older, and something about you—or your life—has changed. Or perhaps you’ve simply grown tired of the game.
That’s why I automatically equate any talk of "the grass being greener back then" with "I used to be young and happy, but now I’m old and sick."

Ah, yes, Return of Reckoning, the game with the highest percentage of disabled players in all of MMOs who needed cheat addon to play the game because pressing more than one button was too much strain.

Be honest: NB allowed to load sequences using conditional logic, thus the decision of which sequence to use was not on player but on the addon (yes, players had to define conditions in settings and then addon worked as autoaim bot). If those 200-300 players couldn't play without cheating then we're better for it.

The entire game is currently built around making things simpler and more accessible for casual and new players:

* Unified currency
* Constant Renown buffs (liniments, potions, BO buffs, etc.)
* Maximum simplification of the RvR campaign
* Access to BiS through PvE

But when people ask for an addon to be unlocked so that EVERYONE CAN USE IT, then suddenly they call you a noob.

Please, don't oversimplify what I'm saying. I'm not saying the game stopped being fun only because NB disappeared (but yes, losing the simplicity of switching between characters is a small reason why the game can become less enjoyable.) I'm simply saying that there was a massive loss of players, including, if I remember correctly, even some developers.

The thing about autoaim cheat addon is that even if it's accessible to all it's still a cheating addon. Created, as legend goes, by Mythic dev when he got owned in the lakes trying to play the game.

"The ease of switching between characters" argument is a bit hollow since skills can be placed on same spots/keybinds and muscle memory takes care of the rest. Functionality-wise all of the class skills fall into same categories so once you learn what each skill does switching between classes is easy.

Disability argument is quite futile when there are people playing the game by clicking on skillbars. It's not about "disability", it's about having conditional and reaction time edge over players who don't have it.
Write conditions into the addon, addon chooses skill sequences in fracture of a second skipping player input and decision making. If someone needs an addon to play the game for them then it's better they don't play at all - and NB gives players with technical know-how and programming skills an edge over those who don't.

The WS/Ini patch was definitely one of the best.
The biggest drop in player numbers occurred after the disastrous decision to block NB.
In two weeks, we lost 200–300 online players.

Most likely some would return I know the new server Dawn of Reckoning launched last weekend, while I haven`t joined it, I saw a lot of old names in the Disc channel for it.
yes totally agree with this ..I know many that have left and they definitely would return under those circumstances.

I wouldnt want to play with or against people using an addon to play the game for them, why do people even advocate for such a silly addon?

Playing a game with people playing with nerf buttons is like playing Bots with anoying human egos who think they are good at the game. So its like playing against annoying bots. Just having Bots in SCs would be better then nerf buttons, atleast Qs would be fast lol. And bots wont afk in warcamp because they cant even manage to press their 1 button well

Getting rid of NB was the only way forward. Having such powerful addons just doesn’t make any sense in any pvp environment. If you are slower than your opponent or doing your rotation poorly you should loose the fight. We already have a GCD of 1.5s; you don’t even need to use your keybinds with this long of a GCD. And outside of blackguard and ironbraker the career mechanics and rotations are not very hard.

I really don’t understand that we are still discussing NB in 2026.

Some of the gripe I get against NB (conditions, etc.) but having abilities in game that only activate when you're behind a target requires either a 20ms ping an immobile target.

Some of the abilities should have been combined (example Choppa) that if you're in front of the enemy you do X damage and if behind Y damage.

Sequencer worked to replace 80% of the issues of ability chains, but didn't address certain conditions that had their own unique buttons (damage % execution, beyond targets, etc.). Just remove / combine those abilities into other ones so the "server side" is responsible for the condition status/activation and problem solved. That way, as a Choppa/Slayer, my attack doesn't perform a half animation and no damage.

But don’t think that the addon isn’t being used in the game right now.

Because the addon is currently fully operational in the game for a select group of players.

You, however, can’t use it because it’s blocked for everyone else. So you’re clearly at a disadvantage, because if you want to compete on equal terms, you simply can’t.

So, do you want equal conditions for everyone? Then release the addon so that anyone who wants to use it can do so, and anyone who doesn’t want to use it doesn’t have to.

But don’t leave that tool exclusively in the hands of a minority of players.
