Re: Suggestion to integrate Buffhead and Enemy into the core game.
Though buffhead, even though I do use it. Is one of the addons that produces the most lag. So the question is do all players want certain addons? Because I could fuss against adding buffhead, even though I believe I cant play as effective without it.
Its where the line is drawn in my opinion. Plus once you add an addon to the base part of the game you have to get a coder to take charge of that addon from now to eternity end. Right now that capacity just is not there.

Adding basic UI addons to the game needs to happen. Add-ons such as Guardpack, Swift Assist, and Buffhead are basic requirements for playing the game.
Fiskgjuse UI is a good UI package, but it's way too much for a brand-new player imo.
For example, the healer UI hotkeys are all located on the bottom-right corner of the screen, so if you don't already have muscle memory for where your abilities are, it's hard to see what you're pressing.
I think a lot of us have forgotten what it's like to be a brand-new player who doesn't have a clue about any aspect of the game. There was a post in Discord the other day about how to use auto-attack for example.

Perhaps a solution could be a RoR UI pack on the download page that contains just a few of the most crucial addons? That way they're not built into the game but still easily available to new players.

Again we'd have to get a coder to say they would baby sit that addon pack for the rest of their lives. Because if we offer it or we promote it we have to protect it and maintain it. Its not hard to do, its finding someone with the capacity and the want to do.

Re: Suggestion to integrate Buffhead and Enemy into the core game.
Gonna mildly weigh in here with my 2 cents, as someone who hasn't played for a full year yet. I personally never really liked using any addons to these types of games, it's too technical and distracting. Plus, at least for me, it ruins the immersion. The default UI looks really cool and simple, imo.
If addons were added to the base game by default, I'd probably disable most if not all, if that were an option.

You're drawing an artificial distinction between addons and the rest of the code in the game. Moreover, that distinction has already been implicitly rejected by the leaders of the project, as seen by the implementation of SoR into the base game and the continued maintenance of it. The project already has coders who need to maintain (babysit) all the code for the entire game for as long as they're committed to the project, if not for the rest of their lives. Every time a new patch rolls out with a bug, they need to fix it. I suspect that adding responsibility for a developer sponsored addonpack wouldn't be a significant time commitment. Especially when considering the impact it would have on the initial experience of new players and consequently their retention.Emissary wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 3:11 pmAgain we'd have to get a coder to say they would baby sit that addon pack for the rest of their lives.
