I know you think that 13 point abilities are supposed to be the bestest but the reality is sometimes they stick stuff 13 points up to just move it out of the way of other more useful abilities to make for viable builds. Go take a look at the various class trees and you'll find lots of examples.
Also, napalm and mist shouldn't be primary dps abilities. They require almost zero skill or positioning to use for what they (used to) do.

I think that's a good explanation of the patch that eviscerated bikinis. It was still really early in the game and most players still didn't understand class functions well: detaunt, guard etc.Kesslik wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 10:02 pmAll the prowling abilities were nerfed into the ground damage wise, making all of them pretty much useless. The big one was enfeebling strike, which made victims have to consider whether they'd rather run and take damage or sit there and wait it out.
Not 100% on this as I cant find the patch notes online yet, but believe witch elf damage in general was reduced by some 25%. Most of this was an overreaction to another bug, where the game allowed procs on procs, so in rare instances you could do insane damage on a single hit. The biggest offender was our pve legendary weapons that could proc a 300 damage on hit, but could also proc on itself. Fixing that was totally reasonable. Nerfing out damage not so much. Was also an overreaction by casters not having figured out what detaunt was and tanks guarding or guard switching. Was relatively early in the game and people were still figuring out stuff, but caster had this funny expectation to just sit there and cast unopposed :p Those were the two big ones, but there were others as well. I've played many many games, and never seen a patch that brutal towards one specific class like that before. Like gtfo out of our game type patch haha.

You may be right. I am simply going off of a base model that things higher up a given mastery tree generally should be more toward the bestest category.Aethilmar wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 4:57 amI know you think that 13 point abilities are supposed to be the bestest but the reality is sometimes they stick stuff 13 points up to just move it out of the way of other more useful abilities to make for viable builds. Think there was also a lot of resentment toward rogue type classes then due to WoW and how overpowered they were at the time. Rogues there were literally posting videos of them killing guys using the starter weapon. So when we's started rocking them on WAR, there was a lot of built in resentment towards that style alreadyOrontes wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 5:54 amI think that's a good explanation of the patch that eviscerated bikinis. I've never played WoW, so I don't know it's history at all. I do recall there was a horde of WoW players about during that early stage (until the new WoW thing came out and they flocked back to it), so your explanation makes sense.Kesslik wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 6:05 amThink there was also a lot of resentment toward rogue type classes then due to WoW and how overpowered they were at the time. Re: Justice from the Patch of Infamy
This must be the reason why rampage never changed, it is quite low in its tree. You are onto something here.

Dying is no option.
Re: Justice from the Patch of Infamy
Have to agree with this. The nerfs to magus/engi were based on (likely) fluff damage from one specific subset of data, when multiple players on both sides said the problem was the puddles that finally got corrected. The nerf to the pet stacks should be reverted.
