Tank Meter in SC's to promote..... Tanks
Re: Tank Meter in SC's to promote..... Tanks
I think, (and i'm no expert) that the RoR team can make so the server tracks damage mitigated/recieved and sends the packets, but here's the problem: the client won't know what to do with it ( IE display it in the scenario end scroreboard). For that they must modify the client files to make them show

To be honest man, this seems a little dismissive and out of place to me. Not all tanks ONLY premade where that premade replaces them with a less ideal tank.Penril wrote:Real tanks dont need a stat telling them if they did good/bad.
- "we missed you last night, the tank who replaced you was horrible"
- "thanks for the guard that last SC, did a great job staying close to me and assisting"
- "awesome crowd control!"
- "great guard swapping, you won us that SC"
These messages (if you receive them) are much more important than any stat.
Many (if not MOST SCs) are probably partial premades with many PUG players. I see probably an average of 4 tanks per SC and if I am not one of them I see ZERO guards...
If you want this game to be more competitive, and less of Premades PUG stomping 500-0 then you need to create better in game support for the (arguably) two most important factors in the game: Assisting and Guarding.
As of right now the "average" tank, never guards, runs in and DPS their FRONT line. ASk yourself. If guarding/assisting is SO important, WHY do they do this? I have detailed out WHY in my above post.
Not everyone runs full melee trains. Sometimes I get on and guess what.... my guild isnt online. Am I to NOT que for SCs because I cant run a full group? Thats silly.
Sure - when I have my guild on and we are in TS/Vox and setting up a main assist ahead of time, and I have my Enemy add on going, I can guard well and assist well and we can communicate outside the game on focus fire.
Why is it so much to ASK for IN GAME support for these things... Why is it REQUIRED to have addons/outside coms in order for an average person to play...
It just makes no sense and comes across dismissive and like you dont know what you are talking about (which I know isnt true) but thats how it comes across man....

A very good point. One that I would like to see some more information on. Again, this doesn't have to be rocket science. Just something for up and coming tanks to gauge themselves. Sure there is a fair percent of great veteran players who are better than everyone else. But as I've played pretty much all of these guys in SC's, very few do anything that special haha so I wish they would not act like they are "that" good with some of the cheesy comps that are being run.
But thank you for the constructive post.

I like the suggestion. This is not for premade tanks. This is to promote all the pugs finally paying attention to guard and stop being 2h loldps.

I'm sorry, I've done a psychiatric and pediatric rotation and from what I've learned dealing with children and psychotic patients this is the best way to handle comments to a discussion that are purely negative in nature or directly go against the purpose of the discussion in the first place.
I did not ask for everyone to agree with me, I simply asked those that take the time to read what I have to be productive, and not do precisely what is done by the 6v6 community thus far in that "they do something, so everyone else should do it the exact same way" or "l2p bro" or "I don't need a stat because of the glory of the waggghh" and all that crap.
It's simple, don't wanna get treated like a child - don't act like one
Don't want me to copy and paste a reply that shows you are a douche - don't be a douche.

I'm not going to read the walls of text, but have you seen the mod Dascore? It tracks how much damage you took and from whom.

I have received messages like those when pugging. And i pug way more than premade these days (3 guys from our main group are not that active atm).th3gatekeeper wrote:

What does a Stat has to do with this? Do you think Pugs will miraculously get better and beat premades if devs add a stat showing assists/guard?th3gatekeeper wrote:If you want this game to be more competitive, and less of Premades PUG stomping 500-0 then you need to create better in game support for the (arguably) two most important factors in the game: Assisting and Guarding.
Hate to say this but... because they are bad?th3gatekeeper wrote:As of right now the "average" tank, never guards, runs in and DPS their FRONT line. ASk yourself. If guarding/assisting is SO important, WHY do they do this? I have detailed out WHY in my above post.
Who said that? As i mentioned, i pug more than premade. Last night i was solo on my SH Prozrag and got stomped by Old School in several SC's. But i didn't cry; i kept doing SCs.th3gatekeeper wrote:Not everyone runs full melee trains. Sometimes I get on and guess what.... my guild isnt online. Our premade (when we premade, that is) is focusing on 1 3 2 with 2 rDPS, so your "not everyone runs melee trains" is out of place.
What are you asking for then? This thread was asking for a Stat that showed a tank's performance, but now you are asking for something entirely different.th3gatekeeper wrote:Sure - when I have my guild on and we are in TS/Vox and setting up a main assist ahead of time, and I have my Enemy add on going, I can guard well and assist well and we can communicate outside the game on focus fire.

Anyway, i find it funny how quickly this thread became another "Pug vs. Premade" thing.

FINALLY - a very skilled/knowledgeable player gets it and is from what I can tell agreeing with me.
I should have been more specific in my post that this isn't primarily for the premade tanks who have a good understanding of the basic functions of the game and use them regularly. It is more for those who don't even have guard slotted or on an accessible spot on their bar nor know how/why to use it. Like most people don't even know its a 30 ft range. And by most... I mean the beginner/pugs/Russians(kidding) type of tanks.
