Ofc you shouldnt call anybody the n-word. But if you do it also makes a big difference when this person is from Germany or Austria. ;)

All this over someone saying "grammar nazi"?

Doesn't seem like a big deal to me... especially because it's a very known meme. :)

Yea, we all know whenever you flame/accuse it is a "reality check". ;)
Gota hand it to the guy, he made his point fair and square. Pretty much this happens to my fellow russians all the time, because our "gaming culture" for the last like 15+ years of MMO-gaming implied inviting people with "+" in all chat.
At least server message of the day could make it a bit clear on the chat rules here, that would remove most of the issues.

Completely understandable, but at the same time, it is not like people have their nationality next to their name in chat channels. Look, I hate when people refer to Americans and to me specifically as a yank, I find it rude and offensive .....but I understand that it is part of their culture to do so and more than likely isn't meant that way.

There are so many cultural, racial, religious, and nationality differences in gaming communities that it is silly to get your feelings hurt or get mad unless you are positive about the intent behind what is being said. That is why open communication and willingness to communicate is important when there are differences.

Not quite, but close. It was over me calling someone a channel nazi, but same idea and same intent.... though the wrong person was banned for it, heh.

Well its #2016 and you have the freedom of speech doesn't mean if you say something on the internet - that wouldn't be drawn out of context/misquoted/understood the most bigoted way possible and there wound't be consequences :D

Alright, let's put aside that I said not to start with this discussion and you chose to write a wall of text instead.
covenn wrote:that were doing so as they got into the game, and were getting channel permissions yanked the very first time they ever used the channel. We did the same exact thing when we initially rolled destro, and not one person gave us a hard time about it or warned us that it was wrong.
Your permissions were taken from you after the 3rd warning and that noone said anything on destro doesn't matter when a GM tells you to stop doing it, you stop.
covenn wrote: I didnt even see the GM going ballistic in chat about people 'X'ing for guild invite until the first person had privs revoked.
Some of your guildmates certainly did because they thought it was wise to point out that the chat rules are stupid in their opinion. Also nobody "went ballistic" in chat, you were simply told to stop and that 3 times.

If one 3 day ban makes 50 people so salty that they feel the need to quit the game, so be it.
