It's a choice to spend your time here, make money, level up crafting, so I agree that people are not entitled to whine about a gold wipe in a free, alpha game. In the same sense, I do not agree with having to spend your time here to make money and level up crafting, other for the purpose to test these features. Many crafting skills already needed fixes and material items were already wiped due to wrongful acquisition due to the game's bugs. An alpha game should NOT have an economy when the risk of gold exploiting and thus gold/item wipes if people are to spend a lot of time and effort to do so, since it WILL result in such entitlement and complaining.Renork wrote:Vilhelmina wrote:And why do the majority of us decent players have to be penalized because of a few ass-hats?
I can accept a wipe when going from Alpha to Beta, but for every release of a new tier, that is painful on crafting.
Majority of "decent" players have a lot of gold due to the "indecent" people buying everything off the AH. Besides, why does it matter if you can accept it or not? You're not paying for the game.
This is the whole problem with a free-to-play game that's still in development. Too many people are actually playing the game rather than testing it, not bothering to report the bugs they find and exploiting them for their own gain. This is both because of the lack of alertness from the devs to instantly fix an exploit, and a lack of well-mannered people that would rather get a gold exploit fixed over exploiting it. A minority of ill-minded players will ALWAYS ruin a game in such a way that it'll hurt the entire economy, which strikes legit players the wrong way since they had to spend so much time and effort to attain a legitimate economy.
Don't reset the economy. Instead, make items/materials freely and easily accessible to everyone for the sake of playtesting, NOT financial gain. The introduction of talismans and potions has already proven that there will be bugs, so there should be a way to disarm the lethality of exploitation through them. It has already affected the economy, AND RvR balance (to a minor extent). This is an ALPHA game. By the time we hit Beta status, we WILL need to get a legitimate economy on track, either through constantly banning exploiters, or diminishing their effect on the economy by making it non-existent. It seems that the amount of legitimate gold created in this game matters more to people than the illegitimate amount of gold created, while it affects us all WAY more.
