That's why pre-skaven WAR RvR mattered. Get bombed, buttmad and leave. If you leave the zone and go farm scens, tovl, whatever - the enemy has free road to your city and king.
You might as well reroll a SW and go gank in Caledor.
Or you fight the enemy lines up until you break their moral, enemy give up and leave.
This was The game, we might never see RoR live up to that scale, only hope. ;)

Try talking to the enemy zerg, thats bloodthirsty and hungry for your kings head, loot and glory.
And tell me how it went.

Spoiler:
Neoyoda wrote:There is no other way to combat a zerg than organized bombing. And with proper detaunts and shield morales you can easily stop a bomb group.

To put it simple bombing is a military tactic which must be countered with more precision and coordinated attacks.

And in my opinion bombing has already been nerfed. Close Quarters tactic should be increased damage when close quarters, not increased cast time. Thats how it was on the old school days.
I know all about the old days cuz I healed for a zerg guild who ran bomb groups. Back then bombing was even viable in scenarios (thankfully no more). I remember seeing very good guilds on destro quiting in droves because they were sick of getting farmed in Orvr and the few elite destro guilds did mostly scenarios and forced us into them if we wanted to lock a zone through the VP system.

There's a reason why AAO was invented and that was because the losing side would get sick of being rolled over and over again and either go to the lower tiers or log off for the day only to see the same thing the next day. Most of those people decided that paying 15 dollars a month was not worth it and the game suffered for it. That's when server merges came to only see the same thing repeat. I know all about the old days...

Nothing wrong with bombing. It might seem "op" now since bws/sorcs are so powerful in early tiers but it wont be so bad in t4 when everyone has more than 5k hp and so on.

The issue is when a certain class (hint: its not bws, sorcs or choppas) does has more single target dps+utility in his "bomb" spec than it does in its single target specs, but thats not what this thread is about so il leave it at that.

Yeah, freakin dragon gun witch hunters

Having said that bombing is not fun, to play vs nor to play as play around

In averlorn today back and forth between two or more WBs on each side back and forth and then kings own or some other guild comes in and does magnet into bw m2s and stuff it was cheap.

Like wise can said for the bomb playstyle its cheap and boring designed to farm pugs which i dont know why anyone would do when you can have more fun as ST.

I dont know if bombing will be good for the game but the story told by mag is very true it did cause quite a few players to leave

Some of you are thinking about this the wrong way.

If the optimum mass RvR strategy for attacking is "bomb" and for defending is "deploy counters to bomb until we can bomb back", both of those had better be incredibly fun. For every class.

This is what people often forget... it's the Pong rule. That which is balanced is worthless unless it is fun and possesses depth.

I remember a couple of Destruction guilds who countered bombing with melee assisting down half of our bombers while Chosens got a good stagger off on the healers. By the time staggers wore off they had killed half our dps and could safly kill the rest of our wb.

The game was all about ~200vs200+ and sometimes twice as much in one zone.
And on that scale AOE was and still is the King. And you fight it with it, you want it or not.
By pushing with all your aoe-dps into the enemy healer lines and wiping them you could achieve victory even against the odds outnumbered 2to1 by coordinating all your efforts, morals, specs, tactics, potions etc.
Sounds like some never experienced that beauty first hand and that makes me a little bit sad. They want to make the numbers matter more by making aoe weaker and its sad.
Try to get it, WAR was never fair for all its live years and never will be. Its you or them. You either bomb them or they bomb you.
Deliberately wanting for whole setups and specs to become obsolete, so they can play their single target.
Go farm some scenarios, will ya? Or play WOW/GW, whatever.
"Think different, Variation is good" my ass.

Spoken like someone who has never experienced PvP outside of spamming an aoe button. :)

A good melee group would make minced meat out of a bombing group, provided equal numbers.

No. Its plain and simple, you either forge the best aoe setups possible for your realm, take crucial battlefield objectives outmaneuvering the enemy zerg and deny the zone lock to your enemy.
Or play your incredibly fun whatever-class, get bored of losing your city and leave.

impling ofc that the only thing that matters is city seiges and that furthermore loosing seiges will result in people being heartbroken or something of that nature

They might leave but only to go chill in scs or play around in praag
