On live, mara was great in a group but also good for roaming solo. WL was decent in a group and good for solo roaming. As I have understood it, trivial blows (renown ability that let you reduce critdmg by up to 50 %) will not be implemented on this server. This should make burst more valuable in a group in RoR, which would benefit the WL, than on live. There is no need to wait till T4. The Devs said that they'll look at balancing after T4 launches, but nobody knows when, where they will focus or how limited they are in certain things given that they don't have 100% of control over the game.peterthepan3 wrote:Wait until T4 to see how lacking the WL is compared to destro counterpart.
Therefore, it's fair to assume that status quo remains as it was at the end of the game, as we know no different. And in that context, it was clear that Mara >> WL in most settings. Even the Devs there said that the WL needed a lot of work, they just never got to it.

It connects instantly, as opposed to the WL which is reliant on a slow, big lumbering pet with crappy AI that can be knocked-down, killed, detaunted etc. Yes, Mara suffers more from disrupts but on live a Mara pull had a significantly higher success rate.

WL lacks utility compared to mara because it has the best mobility of any class in the game.
It doesn't need an incoming healdebuff etc... because those buffs will surely come at the cost of nerfs to things like pounce.
The last thing this game needs is class homogenization, or balance changes based at the solo level. WL plays off the strengths of another DPS that can cover the utility it is missing, this game needs to be looked at the very least the party level each class representing a slot and balance looked at the sum of all the parts.

Being able to cull a WL's damage by 25-35% for 30 seconds by using 2 gcd' s on his pet is not balanced, whichever way you bring it.

A pet that can "fly" is always better than cast pull.

WL pet doesn't "fly" and certainly doesn't ignore CC, it does have immunities like any other mob or player.
What it does do on this server is ignore walls/pathing to get to its target. It's obviously broken and should be fixed, but I think people are overstating what it does. You can also kill the pet in about 3GCD solo as any DPS class or in about 2 seconds with an assist from another DPS, as any WL who has done a few 6v6 CW woods will tell you.
Even so mara pull will still be much better, regardless of good or bad AI having the pull tied to a pet is a disadvantage when the skill is a 1:1 mirror otherwise, not to say fetch is a bad/gimp ability... just saying the mara one is more reliable.
Once the pet pathing is fixed, some tweaks to the pet mechanic in terms of increasing it's reliability hopefully via active abilties instead of passive buffs to things like it's HP, or going down the path of removing core WL mechanics from the pet (lazy way of fixing the class) will put it in a fine spot compared to other MDPS without the need for more desirable utility (inc healdebuff) and possible nerfs to niche things the class has access to (pounce).

I do play a WL o RoR. Got her to lvl 20 already.
