Hey, If I won the lottery, there are a few games I'd want to buy up, and then hire a team to re-engineer to something I thought worked better. This wouldn't be one of 'em as I already like how RoR runs as is (pretty much the only game I have ever played where I can say that), but yeah. . AoC and Aion for sure when they eventually get closed. . Maybe L2. . .

MUST. WIN. LOTTERY.
Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!

The RoR team does a great job. But without the full game and server they will have to do a huge work to make everything functional. To have all quests, all tiers, all publics, all dungeons, etc. This would take years and I'm not sure if its in fact possible. Having the client and server they will have time to maintain and update the game instead of the restoring it step by step.

well i could live with RoR being a PvP-only game, you could make the gear dropping from dungeons and other PvE-places be available elsewhere (for gold or medaillons) so we get the full gear-choices like on live
dungoens, PQs and all that stuff is not really needed then

But it could be a business reason (the game had small revenues or didn't have at all), or a personal. or a creative reason... They didn't invest in it - no new servers and few new content. But we'll never know why. If you know the costs of the game you can calculate an approximate financial model. But untill you have it you cant say its impossible. Asked GW, lets see if they answer.
WAR at day zero forced us to wait up to 2 hours in queue. There were dozens of servers.

3 months later, the first players started the first Fortress Invasion and it was a disaster of unspeakable proportions.

Mythic scrambled at changing what they could. The truth is, you can't really change a MMORPG "on the run" more than so much. I was patch 1.1 beta tester. They took half of my suggestions and charts, implemented some of them.
Game improved but not enough.

Soon after, the major PvP guilds mass quit the game. On my server, the glorious Eltharion, we had giants of the caliber of Server Police, Nagarythe Corps (my guild *proud face*), Greenpeace, Drow and many others.

Each of us had MULTIPLE WARBANDS worth of guild mates on the fields.

After the disaster? Super-mega mass quit, those guilds just vanished. Furious servers consolidations were done, the game imploded. That day, WAR was basically dead. Mythic did the possible to make it last as long as possible (possibly, to use as much as possible of the Game Workshop license).

Then they sold the company to EA, where former AAA titles and companies go to die.

An so it did. EA was just War's testament executor.

salut,

Hello, I think for my part that developers in the majority of the games too much listened to the players. What sends to us directly towards this evolution of " fastfood game " there is obviously an economic environment which I understand.
For all that the common sense should dominate. How to be interested for a long time in a game if you can farm the "end game" and what we give you the opportunity besides avoiding the opponents with a instance system.
The majority of the players and the big guilds the first one prefer free instant for stuff! like All as numerous players preferent to change kingdom "to win" on our good server.
It is sad but it is a reality. So I think that the game of origin of WAR even if there was some bug was much better that the evolutions as the intense of Capital or Skaven (dwarfs fighters in the side of Skaven) and the system of 3 capitals would maybe have been special!
"i have a dream" with a game with one "end game" difficult and long, where guilds the trunk spray-painted would have chosen their camps, of role play name, sworn enemy that have him(it) curse, banners and fortresses contest by a guild, at least of lag but also of regular advance so small it is and especially in the hope that our developers do not run out in the spot

Thanks to the developer
Thanks to the players who does not change a kingdom of that the opponent wins.

Vaerah, so what was the cause? You say Mythic did what they could and then sold it to EA. First of all, Mythic was part of EA. Then - if they did what they can so who's to blame?
