At minimum, magus dots and aoe will negate enemy group heal and group hots, making killing themy a piece of cake. Of course you're right in that healing out dots is easier than burst... But who said that magus completely lacks burst? It may be not as impressive as some other classes have and takes some time to prepare, but it still hurts as hell if you do it right.Abolition wrote:Group heal. I do see what you're saying, and I do agree with it. That said, without some decent direct damage from other sources, your AOE DOTs are simply going to be healed through with little effort.
Personally, I love running with a Magus on my Sorceress, because that AOE spirit resist debuff is fantastic and allows me to burn through people quicker. I feel the Magus is a good utility class.
Why the magus hate?

and once you have enough crit from different sources, then you don't need an ugly sorc anymore

Listen - I'm kind of a big deal. I don't want to brag but basically this just happened.Nishka wrote:I wonder where people take the idea that dmg numbers mean nothing? You know, damage doesn't just go away somewhere. Each point of damage must be healed out by someone or people will start dying. A healer may outheal the damage you deal to him, but that just means he won't be healing someone else. Without you doing damage to him he'd be more effective in holding the group. Get it? I really dk how to explain
Rolled magus - level 1. Wearing literally the starter gear.
Absolutely wrecked an entire patch of nurglings.. got paid for it too.
Just sayin - magus are fine. Stop the whine.

On a serious note though - you were still using your starting armour?
I unequipped everything, including my staff, and melee'd those Nurglings to death.
Who's a big deal now?

Let me know when people start naming movies and replacing a word with Magus; until then this thread sucks.

No, no and no. I strongly disagree. I keep repeating my self, but doing 200k dmg with 0 dbs means You help Your party single target damage dealers reach 100k dmg with 10dbs. Even fluf dmg count when it help Your team mates to kill easier. As was stated above, dots and AOE will negate the group heals and hots.Coryphaus wrote:Getting top dmg in scs means jack ****.Nishka wrote:Ok so I've been playing magus today... After almost a year break. t1, 11 level but severly undergeared without any tals. Can't say I've been the first to get focused. In fact, I've played 5 scenes and died 0 times, always in the top-3 of scene damagers. Maybe you get focused because you jump into the middle of an enemy melee train and try to aoe them down?
I could spend an entire sc hammering on 1 healer but they just heal up all the dmg i do so i never kill them but in the sc board it could say i did 100k dmg, so as you can see sc dmg numbers are deciving and for magus spreading out aoe n dots its not hard to "have big dmg on the sc score board" but its all fluff dmg for now cause with all the healers ordo has the can eaisly deal with you.
